I am writing this on Monday, 8/17. Last Wednesday I began experiencing the formation of red lumps on my upper thighs which I assume to be hives. I took an antihistamine and the hives went away. The following day, the lumps were back and had spread all over my legs, thighs, belly, back, and arms, again I took an antihistamine and applied cold compresses. That night I woke up at 3:30 am and found that I was in so much pain and discomfort that I couldn't sleep and so I took another antihistamine. The hives were mostly gone on all the mentioned extremities but the swelling had moved to my fingers and hands. On Friday I had minimal noticeable swelling except for my left hand and wrist, but I had a serious headache as well as some dizziness. On Saturday the hives on my thighs and arms were back with a fury, as well as large pale bumps on the backs of my heels at this point I was taking antihistamines regularly as instructed by my doctor whom I visited that morning to little avail. Sunday came with reasonably no swelling or redness except in my left index and ring fingers and on the middle of my upper lip, which had become blown up far larger than usual (I already have large lips to begin with). The swelling in my lip was very painful but decreased by mid afternoon. Towards the evening, I noticed that I was having trouble walking as my second toe on my right foot had swollen almost as large as the big toe adjacent to it along with the area surroundings the two. I strapped an ice pack to my foot and took a few pain relievers as this ailment was increasingly becoming the most painful of the ongoing issue. I feel as though I have exhausted my resources and just need to share the story and find someone to help or tell me where to go next.

I am not a Dr. and have no medical background. However, there is a rare disorder that many Dr.'s do not know about. it is called RS3PE.
I would ask the Dr. what he thinks.

My husband has been having the random swelling for about 1 and 1/2 months. We went to the Dr. and in two visits it was $900. and we got no answers. I was hoping to find an answer here. It seems there are so many people with these symptoms. We just had a Lyme test done at a facility that send it off to a lab that provides a more accurate test than western medicine does. Does anyone in this discussion have Lyme Disease?

For me it sounds like having a histamine intolerance!
Histamine occours in many food and drinks and cause allergic reactions and symptoms. I'm sensitive as well and I got the diagnosis via blood test. But you don't have to live with a histamine free diet or stuff like that, there supplements available like "Daosin", it helps you to control the histamine level and you can eat/drink everything without having an allergic reaction.

OMG...the same things are happening to me. I've experienced swelling of my lips, chin, fingers, hands, and like you explained the sole of my foot as well. I get this little tingle, then a slight numbness and then the swelling begins. Often times the swelling get to the point where the swollen area is red, tight, and itchy. And once you start to itch it, it will not stop. Eventually the swelling goes down but I am super worried that one of these times it might be my throat. I've taken Benadryl, I've had an allergy profile performed, my medicine changed, and like you nobody knows what it is. I also get these welps on my skin that are red and itchy and come across like hives. I get them all the time out of nowhere....I don't know what to think but wanted to let you know you are not alone.

I just came across this and realize it was over a year ago but this sounds like juvenile diabetes. I have it and this is exactly how you feel when your glucose levels are out of control. Either go to your doctor or go buy a test kit and check your glucose level yourself. Good luck.

The similarities with everyone is interesting nothing else but these posts describe exactly what I have experienced. Will update with any info. I find.

Mine started about 8 years ago after I had my first child. My face was very swollen and I had to go to the emergency room. They told me I was a allergic to insects. I didn't think that was true, but they are doctors so I'm like, hey what do I know? I was injected with steroids and was told to use hydrocortisone for the itching. The swelling went down, but the itching didn't stop for weeks. Now its been years and its all starting to begin again, even right now as I'm typing. My lip is very swollen, my right foot was beginning to itch and I had the urge to scratch it, but I didn't so it wouldn't swell up. Walking on swollen feet is very bothersome, but what frustrates me the most is when my tongue or lip swells right before I have to go get my children from school. If its stress, can someone please tell me how this is linked to it? I'm getting very sick of this!!

I have had these symptoms for the better part of 6 years now. The come and go, along with my lips and or face and tongue swelling as well. I thought I has it narrowed to the fact that the episodes seem to happen in conjunction with my cycle. I found that the meds I was taking for cramps were making the swelling worse so I have stopped taking them. I have been to an allergist who seems to have determined that it is Angioedema. It can be inflamed by stress, alcohol, food etc. There really seems to be no rhyme nor reason to the occurrences. It is very frustrating!!!
