Hello, guys. My friend’s kid has been recently diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis. He has spine curvature. However, he was also diagnosed with syringomyelia. I wonder how these two entities are connected. I would really appreciate all your replies considering this. Thank you in advance for all your help with my post.

Hi, there. Syringomyelia is a malformation of spinal cord. I think it is a kind of widening of spinal cord. It can cause many neurological symptoms. 50% of the patients with syringomyelia have scoliosis. I am not competent to say why these two entities are related in such high percentage. Hello, folks. My friend had similar problems. Syringomyelia can indeed give some neurological symptoms. They are really complicate to comprehend. He also had idiopathic scoliosis. His spine curvature was on the left. He went for aggressive treatment, but I am not sure how well he will be. This is indeed a question for someone more experienced in this area.
