I'm a 46 yr old female. I have had constant pain while sitting for over 10 months. I've had all the usual MRI and CT Scans with all normal results. However through forums such as these I've now come to realize that none of the test performed focused on the tailbone. The pain I have intensified during bowel movements. When I talked to 3 separate physicians (primary care, neurosurgeon & general surgeon) they all told me that it was impossible for the two issues to be related. I've now been at home for over a week trying to seek direction from another medical professional but unsure which way to turn. Meanwhile, the pain is unbearable and I'm losing control of my bowels. I can't tell when I am going. I don't like pain meds so I am alternating ice and heat. I've tried every NSAID on the market and even steroid therapy. I've had cortisone injections but received no relief after the lidocaine wore off. I have pending appointments with an orthopedic doctor and a Gynecologist. Both appointments are a month away. Apparently I am not urgent. Just for reference, I had 2 natural deliveries, (children 25&26) I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago. I am relatively active running 3-4 miles a day until this pain occurred. I'm desperate and would appreciate any advice.

Hi, where exactly do you feel pain? Is your tailbone area tender to touch? Any other symptoms, such as increased body temperature?

Why did you have a histerectomy?
