Your situation sounds just like mine. Same description of areas and itching. I have been reading all morning. There are a few things that caught my attention. First was what cleaner being used in tan bed and how well its cleaned. I know we pay for the service but after I heal Im going to try cleaning the bed before I get in with an alcohol and water solution. Second Im reading a lot about the bronzers and accelerators. I may opt out of using any lotion to use tan bed and just moisturize well after. Be picky on what I do use. Im going to look for the best recommended lotions to use. And 3rd although the length of time has never been an issue with me before as I have tanned in beds for yrs. Im going to cut back to 15 min at a time. Doctors are saying that the sweat may cause the rash and itching. Also giving the radiation time to absorb in you inbetween each tan. Like I said I usually can tan everyday or every other but im going to slow down. With these three things I read that made sense its worth a try as ive already pd. for 6 mos. So check the beds cleanliness, watch lotions with bronzers and such, and last timing. I hope this helps you and me lol. Please post back if you have resolved your issue and I will do the same. Have a great weekend!

Ive been tanning for two years now because of prom and both times i've had an allergic reaction. It's itchy and literall feels like im being stabbed my millions of needles all over my body! All i can do really is cover the problematic areas ( mostly my boobs) and that always helps. But i get it all over my entire body; it's just something i've learned to deal with because I reallly want to be tan! lol

It's uv poisoning or too much UV than what you are used to receiving in natural sunlight. It's not dangerous and should clear up in a few weeks. Avoid tanning and use antihistamines for itch or calamine lotion.

You're probably just allergic to something in the lotions. I would just tan and not use any lotion at all.

I have tanned my whole life. I recently started using a tanning bed before a trip to Florida. On my 6th visit, I developed a bad rash on the top of my feet and upper back. It itched and burned so bad. Drove me nuts on the whole 20hr drive to Ft. Lauderdale. It started going away, but the next day I went to the beach, and it came back with a vengeance. So I started researching it, and found out it was UV overdose. The tanning beds were so powerful that it pumped out more UV than the melanin in my skin could absorb. The only way to get rid of it is to cut out all UV rays until it is gone. I was in Florida so I found 100spf lotion and applied it to the areas were I had the rash. It worked because the rash did not get any worse. I hyad the rash bad so it took about a week for it to go away.

So if you have a white spot from tanning on your elbow and you think it is caused from pressure points while tanning as long as you move around from now on while tanning will that one spot catch up with the rest of your body or will it always b whiter than the rest? Cause I have a spot on my elbow and am trying to figure out ways to get that one spot to catch up with the color on the rest of my body and I don't want to have to start all over like wait a couple weeks to let it even put then start over again. Didn't know if there were ways to help speed up the tanning process in that one spot that is whiter? Any advice would be great

I used to get this when I used tanning beds. The rash was called erythema multiform and I had to use a steroid Cream to get rid of it. When I’m in the natural sun for life my periods I will still get it.
