I don't know what happened, but I noticed yesterday that the bridge of my nose is very tender to the touch. To touch my nose to wash or even to put on make up really hurts. I don't have any cuts, scrapes or anything on my nose and there is no bruising either. I have been teasing my fiancee about elbowing me in the middle of the night because it felt like someone hit my on the nose, but today I have a headache and my neck is hurting. I have been searching the net all morning to try to figure out what this, but I'm not getting anywhere. Any ideas?
I hate to be another person saying this but you describe my symptoms EXACTLY! Exactly the same! And did several others in their reply. So now the question is - how can we get some medical feedback to these chats?
I have had this nose pain for 15+ yrs now. I wake up in the morning with a terrible neck ache. After a couple of hours it moves to the bridge of my nose, always on the left side and in just one small spot. If I press on it it stops hurting but then even the pressing starts to hurt. These "headaches" last a full 24 hrs then go away. I've taken every migraine medicine there is and even most prescription pain killers don't work. I've had sinus septum surgery and nerve/vein ligation at the inside corner of my eye but got no relief. The only thing that sometimes stops the pain is Toradol along with Percocet. I've seen 5 ENT doctors, several GP's and have even tried the Mayo Clinic which is overpriced and totally misrepresented. They can find no explanation of why I have this nose pain. I have pretty much given up on getting help. Where are the doctors that are supposed to try and help us?

What i have found to help atleast make my life liveable is first...that ocean nasal spray is heaven. i like it so much better than the neti pots and such cuz you dont have to mix the water and it comes with what is possibly the best contraption to put on the can to help you get the saline in your nose nice and smoothly. Also, a good steroid spray that you can get from your doc....and finally mucinex D...the stuff is heaven sent! you can take the generic if you want but just so you know yes, they do have all the same active ingridents but there are some ings diff in the inactive ingrediants....and i did start with e store brand and found that i had better luck with the real stuff...but in all seriousness...if you have any kind of nose problems get some kind of saline wash. OH! i do also take some of the wash and put it on a paper towel and rub town the inside of my nostels before i spritz the sprayers....if it gets really bad i will put some anti-bactorial cream up there and that gives alot of reflief..l..i have found for me that if i can get my nose under control and out of crisis mode then myheadaches and neck come out of theres.....

I thought I would add my experience to these posts as I searched the internet desperate for some answers.
7 months ago I found it extremely painful to wear my glasses as the bridge of my nose hurt so much and resorted to putting tissues under them to stop some of the pain.
I went to my GP who said I had sinus problems , she gave me a course of antibiotics told me to take sudafed and codeine pain killers. In the next 7 months I saw 5 different Gps in my surgery ....each said sinus problems ...they gave me more antibiotics , told me to rinse my sinuses out, gave me nose sprays etc ...NONE GAVE ME ANY RELIEF FROM THE PAIN.
I will point out here I did not have a blocked nose or drip...NOTHING but pain on the bridge of my nose and slight swelling down the left side of my face , on the left side of my nose and my eyes became puffy.
I was sent for an MRI and the results did show some sinus problems according to my GP !!!! At this point they refused to give me any more antibiotics and I pleaded to be refered to an ENT doc.....
In the end I got refered to a private consultant ...best £100 I spent .....in 15 minutes he "rubbished" what my GPs had said . He couldn't believe that they hadn't realised if the antibiotics hadn't worked and the pain killers made no difference THIS WAS NOT A SINUS PROBLEM !!!!
He looked at the results from the MRI scan and said he could take 10 people off the street and they would all have the results I had.He shone a torch up my nose and just talked to me about my symptoms.
He said you have Trigeminal NEURALGIA......ie nerve damage......I went back to my Gp the next day and she perscribed Pregabalin ...I have now been taking it for a month and the pain is slowly stopping , however the side effects of feeling drunk and stoned all the time are a bit of putting.
I am still going to have a CT scan to see if anything is pressing on my nerves.
I HOPE THIS IS HELPFULL TO SOME OF YOU THAT LIKE ME SUFFERED MONTHS OF PAIN AND ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF MONEY TRYING TO GET RELEF .

There are medications that you take that will do this. My doc had me trying several meds for my stomach(Little purple pill, etc.) and they caused the same pain. ALSO get your blood pressure checked. Anyway, if you are using a new med for something, be suspicious that it might be the cause.

I am now having the same problem I had a year ago. Back then the doc said it was from my cpap mask. I am not on the cpap anymore and here we go again I have the same pain on the bridge of my nose more on the right side. I have been having headaches for the last couple of days, been feeling sick from a flu bug and now this. If anyone has a solution please post it here. Thank you so much

Hi all, I came across this forum looking for help with the same symptoms. I woke up this morning with a very tender bridge of nose which has got progressively worse over the day.
I moved last week and in my previous flat was constantly having to take one a day allergy relief tablets (Loratadine) and have not had to take them since moving. I've had to go back to the flat yesterday to redecorate, and think the dust and mould has been disturbed in the move and spending the day there has led to these - new- symptoms. Fortunately at the moment I don't have the neck pain and headaches that others have described. I did sleep for about 3 hours this afternoon that indicates that I may be fighting an infection.
I have taken Sudafed Blocked Nose capsules, which I usually avoid because they're not very effective but they were all I could find and half an hour later find my Loratadine and was so desperate I took one of those too (after Googling that they were ok to take together!) They have provided some relief, my nose has started streaming although it really hurts to blow my nose but the tenderness on the bridge of my nose hasn't gone away. I've also taken two pink Migraleve for the pain and I hope that will kick in soon.
I hope this post helps some of you and that I will feel better in the morning as I have noticed a lot of people saying they continued to feel worse for days...

An update... the next day I went to the pharmacist who said it sounded like a sinus infection and I needed to see my GP. Last thing on a Friday, no chance of getting an appointment so I had a telephone consultation. My GP agreed that it was sinusitis but as my nose blowing was clear that there probably wasn't an infection just yet. She prescribed me Beconase nasal spray twice a day and carry on with pain relief and anti-allergy tablets. She did say that if other people could see the inflammation (I could see it was but my partner couldn't unless he looked closely) that it could be a skin infection and so seek medical help straight away and that if it hadn't gone in a week then she would prescribe anti-biotics. Four days later and the inflammation is starting to ease and I can touch my nose again without wincing. Not 100% better but certainly 50%.
