I had THD on April 9, RBL on June 7 and a deflated hemorrhoid and hemorrhoid removed and stitched on July 14!

I thought the THD would be a piece of cake the way the Dr. and online material read. It was not a piece of cake and I should have never been allowed to go to Florida on vacation one week after the procedure. I did not have pain, but I did have discomfort and it took about 3 weeks to recover.

The RBL procedure I thought would be painful and again I was wrong. It really didn't hurt and I didn't have to take any pain meds. However, it didn't take care of that pesky deflated hemorrhoid I had hanging out.

So, back again to the Dr. who then said he could cut and suture the deflated hemorrhoid off. My greatest fear ... pain like I'd had 28 years before with the first hemorrhoid surgery. But, I had come too far to stop now. Yep, I bit the bullet and said yes to the this procedure.

I agonized over this procedure because I knew how painful cutting and suturing hemorrhoids can be. They gave me a 10 mg. valium to take the morning of this procedure to be done in the Dr. office. I took it and thought that it was like having a glass of wine, but soon it became more like a strong margarita and yes, I was relaxed and chatty. The procedure was simple. The most painful part was the shot of lidocaine and that wasn't bad. The Dr. told me he even cut out a hemorrhoid along with the deflated hemorrhoid. I walked out with my husband and Dr. and was in the Dr. office less than 25 minutes. The Dr. told me to take vicodin for pain (I had a lot left over from the THD that I had not taken). I got home and waited for the pain to kick in. I wait and waited. I didn't have any pain. I am still amazed that I didn't have pain. I did take two ibuprofen for inflammation though. The next day, I waited for the pain ... nothing. I was pretty fearful of my first BM. But again, no pain! I however, had been taking stool softeners which I would advise anyone going through this type of procedure to do.

It's now the end of day 3 and I still feel fine with no pain. I have not taken one pain pill. So, anyone that is apprehensive about this type of procedure, don't be. At least for me, it was not painful.
