I go to a g.i. Dr it's not g.p. Since 2009 when I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and I've mentioned my stomach numbness to them and my general practitioner and while I was pregnant to my ob and none of them know anything. They actually kind of blow it off likes it's no big deal.

Wow. Same problem with me too. Bigger is that docs seem to think it is my spinal cord and some nerves that are creating this problem . Can you please tell me the docs name and contact details .

This was the beginning symptom for me before i got really ill for 2 weeks. I had so many tests done, they thought i mught have had kidney stones. It wasnt though, it was diverticular disease. Which is aparantly rare in younger people. Usually seen in older or obese. However i am neither. It may be un related but it started around the same time i became ill so who knows...

I'm only 33 in great shape, exercise and lift weights everyday. I'm 6 foot, 190 pounds with a very low BMI. It started out as a terrible pain in my lower left abdominal area, went to the ER- diagnosed with diverticulitis and have been battling of and on ever since for about a year. A couple months ago, I started getting the numbness and tingling in my stomach on the left side, just as you would feel if your foot fell asleep. It happened offer, many times in my sleep or if sitting in a weird position. I ignored it. One night I woke up at 2am with the worst pain of my life. My stomach was so cramped I could barely move, it was burning, i was violently nauseous. I take pride in being able to toughen through things but this was bad I was literally crying. I had, what I though was terrible watery diarrhea, and violently throwing up all at the seam time. It was passing straight blood for three hours before I wa even able to get to the point where I could move. The ER diagnosed me with ischemic colitis. Ischemia is she the blood supply is cut off to your organs, it's li threatening. I should mention I also have severe IBS--D. I lost almost two pints of blood and have been battling ever since. I could have died, and what Atari le way to go. DO NOT IGNORE YOUR BODY. IF SOMETHING FEELS WEIRD, GET IT LOOKED AT IMMEDIATELY. Be demanding if you need to be. Just because we are young doesn't mean weird things can't pop up. I only had a 7 percent chance of this happening, but it did. When your body functions are affected in any way by a new symptom, don't play around. Watch for nausea that comes and goes, even for a short time, check the color of your stools, remember what you eat daily, absolutely get a second opinion. These stomach issues are tough for many doctors, especially if you've been seeing the same one for so long. Sometimes it's good go in with a clean slate and allow the doc to be more focused on the one issue. Communication is very important, don't be afraid to check in with your doc when you feel like you need an answer. As patients we are sometimes made to feel like a burden. Remember, these are making bank off your insurance just for spending a few minutes with you. They owe you answers about your body, and they seem bothered, switch doctors. People probably have died because they think the doctor is too busy for them.
