Hey guys, I've been having the same thing and am trying to get to a doctor to have them see what the heck is going on. One thing that at least used to help me was taking Robitussin - the expectorant version. It was like it helped thin and drain the mucus that was somehow clogging my ears and then also going down tubes on the sides of my throat? But I've more recently started having that front of the throat pressure too, and not much seems to help that consistently - sometimes Sudafed or Vitamin C has seemed to help, or diet changes, but not always, and last night was just torture - all afternoon and evening yesterday and then all night into this morning, nothing has helped, and it even seemed like my esophagus was having painful little spasms because of all the pressure. :( I'm trying to get a doc appt for this week, but reading your stories here makes me wonder if it'll be a waste of time....I guess at least it'll give me peace of mind that it's not thyroid or cancer or something, if nothing shows up on tests..... Any updates from anyone?

I have the same issues. Most of it started after I got sick a year and a half ago. I’ve been to every kind of doctor imaginable. Has anyone had any resolve with t hi s issue?

I’ve had this feeling off and on for a couple years now. The only time it gets better is when I stop having any kind of coffee/caffeine. I didn’t have any caffeine for a week and it was almost completely gone. But I felt a lot of relief within a few days. I’m going to try to get off of it again. I love coffee but this isn’t worth it!

I had the same issues. They seem to be seasonal for me. I live in the midwest. I saw an allergist who did the scratch/allergy testing and found I was allergic to ragweed, dogs, mice, trees, grasses. I was taking Zyrtec and it "sort of" helped so I switched to Xyzal which seems to be better. I also have throiditis (found on ultrasound of thyroid) which I do not believe that there is anything they can really do with that. I, too, have mild gastritis and GERD so I take antacids. I was on Aciphex and weaned to Pepcid AC as needed. I have been pretty much ok until summer and pollen hit again. I take the allergy med (Xyzal) in the evening before bed. Then might take Pepcid the next day in late afternoon as needed. Pepcid is a class of histamine blockers for reflux which I think also blocks histamines from allergens, so it may give me a little boost. Try changing up some of the meds as they are only a molecule off. My occasional throat tightness seems to be allergy related. Long story short, what I do seems to help but I still have occasional moments of throat spasm/tightness oddity. Hope this helps :)

I've been fighting with that feeling for a few months and it finally got REALLY bad yesterday. Pain when swallowing saliva, lymph nodes in jaw and neck inflamed, swallowing felt tight from the larynx down to the collar bone. Mild, persistent pain from under the tongue in the jaw down to the chest. I figured it couldn't hurt to try so when it was at its worst I bought some TUMS. I took two TUMS and ate an apple and had INSTANT relief. Swallowing no longer hurt but was only mildly uncomfortable.

I could still feel the tightness from jaw to chest still but the pain right at the larynx area was soooo much better. You could try popping two TUMS and eat something soothing like an apple or banana and if you feel better IMMEDIATELY you might be onto something.

The next day the pain on that side is greatly reduced, first normal day I've had in weeks.

Mine lingering symptom set started after I got sick too. I had a horrible sore throat and fever. Not Covid, not flu, not strep. I got tested for a lot of things, all neg. I got better after about 7-10 days except this lingering sensation of throat tightness and related issues. I can't swallow, speak, or breathe the same. It's only been a little more than a month but it has been so frustrating. My instinct is telling me there is a bio-mechnaical element involved with the neuro-muscular dance that all the muscles and everything in my neck and throat area has lost its coordination with these basic tasks of speaking, swallowing, talking, and even simply being at rest. I feel like I need to visit a physical therapist for my throat/neck/sinuses. Wishing you all complete and quick relief.

My wife has something similar. Its been going on for the last year. We thought it was related to Covid followed with the pneumonia she had. SImilar issues and similar doctor prognosis as yours. One thing that is different is that she now gets very irritated with sitting up in certain positions as she feels this pressure around her thyroid. The specialist did put a camera down her throat for a day. The results leaned towards acid reflux but showed nothing else going on. She has been diagnosed with Hashimotos disease but these are not those symptoms. She is currently taking meds for Acid reflux but this doesn't help with this terrible pressure in her neck area. I feel so bad for her as it has turned her world upside down. In this day and age I would think we could have figured this out by now.

I’m so sorry you are all experiencing this .. I’m finding it hard to find a dr that actually hears you.. obviously you have anxiety.. and thrown to a specialist.. thrown around the cycle of .. it’s in your head.. enough to give you a lump in your throat... along with.. who has time to be sick... I’m exhausted.. aren’t you
So few things I have discovered
eaustation tube dysfunction .. vestibular migraine.. neuritis.. neck issues ... curve in neck.. vagus nerve issues.... imbalance in the jaw.. .. I meditate.. use salt water spray.. and waiting on prolo therapy .. to hit W.A as I believe it’s all about the neck curve.. yep
I’m tired.. hope someone gets some relief x
