Maybe I can help ease your worries.

About 20 years ago I found that my shirt collars were beginning to become difficult to fasten and when I put my head back, my throat looked a little enlarged. I went to the doctors and was subsequently sent for a thyroidectomy.

Surgery went very well and the remaining thyroid took over completely.

After 10 years more, a similar thing happened and the other thyroid was also removed.

So, now I am thyroid-less and take thyroxine daily. The dose has remained constant over the period. I have frequent function checks and everything is working as it should.

I work as an airline pilot and the Civil Aviation Authority are happy with the results. Overall, I would say that if your situation is similar to mine, then you have nothing to be concerned about.

I wish you the very best.
