I had my tummy tuck almost 5 weeks ago. Day after surgery, I was standing up straight with no pain, but the nurse jumped up and told me to bend over and walk. It was hard to be on my back and to sleep the first week. Only thing sore was my butt from all the sitting, and sleeping in a crunched position. No drains were used, but after 3 weeks, the doctor did drain fluid. I felt really swollen, especially lower ab and pubic area for 3 weeks. After I was drained, my body finally was able to absorb and get rid of the excess fluid. I wear the binder full time first 4 weeks, now wearing spanx type garmet for next two weeks. I feel great. Back in the gym, but not full out yet. I love my new flat tummy! I have been a gym rat for over 25 years, but never could get rid of the fat I felt I had around my middle. Doctor told me it was excess skin from having 2 kids and just normal aging. Now I feel like I should look for all my hard work and healthy eating!! My doctor and his staff were awesome. For those frustrated that the swelling is not going away as fast as you like...hang in there! It does get better and it's well worth the wait! Wearing the binder helps keep swelling to a minimum.

Thanks for sharing that. I was sad that I couldn't get my drain out on Friday. Too much fluid output. I will be two weeks post op on 4/27. I hope I can get the drain out then. But from what I've read here some really need to keep it in longer... and it's better to keep this thing than deal with having your abdomen aspirated. Yow!

I am wearing a compression garment in the day and switch to the abdominal binder at night. My PS said to wear the garment night and day for 5 weeks (a week per decade— I'm 50.)

I'm active and a weight lifter and hiker. Very near ideal weight but had loose skin from pregnancy. So glad I did this... but so anxious to get back to activ

I'm active, I do resistance training and hiking for cardio. Very near ideal weight but had loose skin from pregnancy. So glad I did this... but so anxious to get back to physical activity. I am finding that I get tired and need to rest just from working on the computer which is not physically taxing.

I had my tummy tuck and lipo 3 weeks ago . I feel great !. I went back to work in one week and they took my drain out . It has been only three weeks i look great people do notice the diffrence and of cource I dont eat the same. Alot of the people think with lipo or tummy tuck your problem is resolved. It does not work that way . My doctor did advise me it will take couple months for me to stay swollen, and for the mean while i have to make sure what i eat is healthy or i might gain weight.

After having four children via c section very close together my dr agreed a tummy tuck would be very beneficial.
I had a full tummy tuck, was in hospital for 5 days, had my drainage tubes removed after 4 days.
Its been three months since my op, ive had no complications, my tummy looks fantastic.
After working so hard to lose the extra baby weight its nice to see my tummy matchs the rest of my body now.

I'm 6 weeks pist Full tummy tuck today. I feel 99% recovered. I have had minimal swelling. I did have swelling which gave me pregnant look for the first few weeks though. It sometimes swells up after a physical day. For the most part it's flat, accept right above my new belly button. I can finally sneeze with no pain!

I am 6+ weeks into my tummy tuck. No swelling, but still really sore and cramping while sleeping, so bad it wakes me up. Doc. doesn't have a clue. My incision line is good, no lumps. But I was really worried about the soreness until I read that other people are still have discomfort even past 6 weeks. We all heal differently. Take care.

I'm about 15 days post op from my TT and the drains are gone. I swell a bit by the end of the day but I have my husband help me re-wrap the binder right before bed and by morning the swelling is down again. I'm back to my desk job but I do sit with my feet up on a box under my desk.
I'm going to town on that Palmer's Coconut oil with vitamin E. I'm lathering that stuff on several times throughout the day. I smell a little like a chocolate bar, but it sure feels great!

I did my research and went out of the country for my tummy tuck and lipo. I made sure that I interviewed patients who had surgery with my doctor. I stayed out of the country for two weeks at which time my drains were removed. I can't believe most of you went more than twice that long with the drains! I had 9 lymphatic massage sessions during those two weeks and rested the entire time. I also had a very good diet, drank a lot of pineapple and cucumber smoothies to help me with water retention and wore my binder garment faithfully. The second week I had the garment taken in so it was always tight. I was walking straight by the end of my 3rd week. I wore my garment until my 9th week, but I weaned myself off of it. By the end of the first month I had to purchase a new garment, because I had already taken mine in twice. I am so happy with the results of my surgery. My stomach looks amazing. My incision is even and flat. I have been using the cream and the silicone sheets my doctor prescribed.

The liposuction was more painful than the tummy tuck. I still have a little bit of fluid pockets here and there, but I know with time and massage, they will get evened out. I love what I see in the mirror. I love how confident I feel! My husband is very happy also! ;-)

I am 2 weeks and 3 days post op. I had my drains taken out 12 days post op. I wanted my drains out so bad and thought it was so odd that I had them in for so long my doc first told me he would take them out4 days after. I was draining so much at that point he said no way!! I thought it was very odd to and this pro did not happen to most people but after reading all this I know I was worng. I go back to the doc in 2 days and I am still very swollen and on my right side I have a big swollen hump this makes me think I am going to get the needle drain :'( I want what is best for me but I am not so sure about this needle thing?? Most of you say it does not hurt but holly cow I don't know how that would not hurt??? I wear my garment 24/7 unless being washed I hate being with out it... I go back to work in about a week I hope I am ready I have not even put on a pair of pants I have been wearing leggings most of the time?? Also noticed I weigh more now then I did before the surgery??DID that happen to anyone else??Is it the swelling?? As for my scar (cut) It looks great at about a week I started using any scar cream I could find at the store I put it on every time I go potty!!! Does anyone have a special cream that they think works the best for the scar??Thanks!!!!!!1

After much research before my tummy tuck, I am now 5 weeks post op. My physician does not generally use drains or binders and that is the main reason I used him...my result is fantastic!!!!!! Sure, I have a bit of swelling and depending which side I sleep on it can appear a little uneven in the morning, but nothing I, or my surgeon are concerned with. He used steri strips across my incision and after 2 weeks I peeled them off as they were irritating my skin and began twice daily massage of my entire abdomen and the incision area, as well as the pubic area, using Bio-Oil...my scar is barely visible! Sure Im a little sore and swollen when I come home from work but if my result never got any better than it is now, Im as pleased as could be with the outcome!
I walked bent over for about a week but made a point to straighten against a wall each day. When I walked into my surgeons office 1 week post op the office staff couldn't believe my progress. Now, Im only saying that yes, I had pain and even a little sadness week 2 but I did extensive research and knew exactly what to expect. I did EVERYTHING my surgeon told me to and I made a point to shower, and do as much "normal daily routine" as possible each day, even if I was in a gown and robe as was the case the first few days.
I can tell if Ive done too much as my body lets me know day 2...listen to your body! Im no aerobics instructor nor a skinny mini, Im a 50 year old mother of 3, 5' 9" and about 170 lbs, and a grandmommy! I do try to eat healthy, and Im back to my daily walking so hopefully my weight will begin to drop again! Final note, my weight post op was exactly the same as it was prior and still is exactly the same!

I am almost 3 weeks post op tummy tuck.  Oh my not exactly what I expected.  Friend has tummy tuck up and going 2 weeks.  But the difference is I had lipo as well.  Now have developed seroma.  MD draining by syringe 1st draw 150 cc 5 days later 280 cc go back on Thurs.  MD advised this is not uncommon.  Experiencing alot of pain with it continue to wear binder.  Hopefully will resolve shortly.  Feel much better after drainage.  Incision looks great.  Still alot of swelling but a great noticeable difference.  Good job but unfortunately I have developed seroma.  A little depressed hopefully in few weeks all will be resolved.  I think you can not compare other surgeries to your own we are all individual and heal differently.  I just keep telling myself the results will be worth it.  Surgeon has done a great job.  Hanging in here and hope to back to normal in a few weeks.  Just slowing me down a little longer than I thought.
