You might have been bleeding because it was too early for you to begin having sex. You shouldn't have sex until you're cleared by the clinician at your 2 week post abortion check-up because you don't know if the abortion was successful and if all of the fetus was removed. No matter how much you both want it, you really shouldn't be having unprotected sex after an abortion because you might end up with yet another unplanned pregnancy. You can get pregnant as soon as two weeks after your abortion. So you have to make him use a condom and you've got to get on birth control.
