I get this very rarely and it's happening to me right now so I decided to look it up. I am 23 and it's happened to me every once in a while since I was a teenager. I CANT BELIEVE what I'm reading, as its exactly the same thing. As I type this I feel like I'm typing extremely fast but I know it's a normal speed. Why does this happen. I'm going to do more research but now that I know I'm not crazy and the only one dealing with this. Then again, maybe we're all crazy. Also, I find it interesting that we're all close in age.

You're right. I've done research on 'AIWS' and the symptoms are not the same. I ha e yet to find an answer that makes sense, and obviously they're are many people that have these same fast foward 'episodes'

I've been having these since a traumatic event around the age of 12 (now 36). Is there a name for this? I have had serious anxiety since my early 20's

I also get this feeling in my brain. I find it to be very interesting that everyone in here that stated there age is around 20-25. I am just getting over a severe case of this brain reaction or whatever you want to call it and am gonna go to the neurologist. I myself am 20 years old and have delt with this since as long as i can remember. I will keep you guys posted on my results and let you know if they diagnosed my problem.

I am almost 30 and ever since I could remember, I've had the feeling of everything around me moving in 'fast forward'. Once every few months I feel the sensations. It almost seems like an out of body experience and sort of thrilling.

I remember running when I was younger feeling like The Flash. Now, if I'm at work at it starts, I feel like the fastest typer in the world. I never saw this as a 'disorder' or an 'issue'. But actually more of a secret super power.

It usually only lasts for a 5-10 mins but when it's over it feels as if an hour has passed. Every time it happens it makes me wonder... How did it happen? What made it occur? Can I control it to make it happen whenever I want to? When will it happen next?

I've never felt worried about it and I've never really talked about it to anyone. Mostly because it was something that came and went so quickly, which never scared me. To be quite honest, I've never felt like I wanted or needed to make the feelings stop.

So weird, I get this too, all the time! (i'm 24 now). I could be sitting at my desk focusing on work and then out of nowhere, it hits me. I start moving in slow motion, but everything around me is fast. I start slowing my movements down hoping it would stop the feeling but nope. All sounds become really loud.

I remember as a kid these "feelings", and it only happened when I had a fever. We called them fever dreams. Because it only happened in our dreams when we were sick. Your head will feel really big, your arms feel extremely heavy, all your limbs are distorted in size. But that has worn off. Now it's just the fast feeling. As I am typing this, it's happening. I have to get up and walk around to sort of, shake it off. But I usually feel like i'm walking like a stick figure. The feelings usually last about 10-15 minutes. I've been told its depersonalization disorder. It does interfere with my daily activities, such as work. Makes me feel like I'm moving like a robot.

Really weird to know other people have experienced this. No one in my family has had it since we were kids (around 6-8 years old). I guess everyone's "fever dreams" have worn off.

Hi. It's not a disorder. I'm 45 now and haven't had an episode in at least 20 years. I think of it almost like a computer glitch. And it rights itself as your brain develops. So good to read other people's stories and know what was happening to me then. Put my mind at ease.

My son, 13 at the time, was encountering these sensations-1. things around him moving at high speeds, 2. voices sounding "too loud", 3. and his hands looking bigger than they actually were. His episodes spanned 3 months, starting at approx 50 seconds and later lasting to almost 5 minutes. A couple times there were 2 episodes in a day, or would happen once every couple days. They would always happen to him at home, when he was not near anyone else. They never happened at school. We took him to every Dr we could, and they could only rule out things from the tests, but never tell us a possible cause. No one ever committed to a diagnosis of Alice in Wonderland. He underwent tests by Neurologists (EEG for Seizures and overnight EEG) Psychological Neurologists, Ear Nose & Throat Dr.'s, and Psychiatrists. He could not get an MRI because he had braces, but tumors were ruled out, so that was good. Possible triggers / reasons were stress, adolescence and hormones. What I do know is that they started happening after a severe stomach virus where he became severely dehydrated. Drs did test to rule out being viral related. It was very scary during those months, to not know what was causing my son these episodes. After a couple months, they stopped. He has not had them in 9 months and I hope they never come back. He would get very scared in the beginning, but then later got used to them. However, he was always afraid they'd come during school. Luckily they never did, but I did alert teachers that if he got up and walked out of class without permission, it would be because he could feel an episode coming on and would not have enough time to ask permission to leave the room, I hope this can help someone who is going through this. It was just awful! I wish we knew why they were happening, but he never suffered any consequences from them, so we are happy about that. He's a great student so nothing ever affected his academic abilities or his behavior.

I get this feeling to!

I'm only 15 but I can remember having it from age 3 onwards. I got the feeling in a bad dream as a toddler and I still get it in everyday life today.

I get it every now and again and in my head it's as if I'm rushing really fast. For example if I pick up a pencil or type on a computer it seems like I'm doing it really fast. For me I find it quite stressful and scary.

I got it today so I thought I'd look it up and it really helps to know that other people get it too but I wish there was some kind of name or explanation to why I get it.

But yes I agree it feels like a sense of urgency or a shot of adrenaline to my brain.

I get this too! I've had it since I was a teenager and I'm now 30. I tend to get it when I'm tired. Just came down from one. I went to the doctors when I was younger about it and the GP just shrugged at me and said she didn't know what it was, she treated it like I was making it up. I'm so glad others have it, so I don't feel like I'm going crazy!

Hi. As I child I too had this problem. Infact i stumbled upon this page searching of this particular thing only. It happens too rare now but with me there was one more thing that happened, the things around me, or the things that i had formed image of in my mind would zoom upto 50 times their normal size too fast. It was purely at the level of brain..no physical consequence. As a child it happened a lot. The last it happened with me was months ago and that too for a much shorter duration.
