I am 9 months post tummy tuck and lipo with swelling above my belly button. It is so frustrating to know this is still happening. At times my belly is hard, in some areas it is hard. I have been exercising since my ps said i could and now im walking too. I spent over 8000.00 for this and ended up looking like im pregnant. Below belly button flat. I have to hold my stomach in like i used to do and i shouldn't have too after the surgery. Last appointment ps said you look fine i was laying on table and of course my tummy was flatter it only protrudes when i stand up. I left the office feeling depressed.

I am 6 months post-op with no lipo. For the last 3 weeks the upper belly swelling is so bad, I at times feel as if it's cutting off my breath.  Makes my right side hurt and into my back.  At first, I looked great and the bottom part below the incision still looks good, but above the bb I poke out. Size 10 pants, size 14-16 tops. Painful and discouraging.  I wondered if I have pancreatic cancer or something.  Very scary

I am 11 years post op and just found this site...interesting..I have had to remove all starch from my diet and eat copious amounts of fermented foods to keep the bloating at bay. My diet consist of fat, protein and leafy green vegetables...that has helped me the most..and if I vere from it i bloat and have terrible gut pain.

5 months post op. Pre weight was 110lbs 5'4. Looked great up until a month ago, always bloated and swollen. Feels an looks like a bulge above belly button. Restricts my breathing and pushes my belly button out to look weird. Waiting to get an ultrasound and other tests then going to get a second opinion from another cosmetic surgeon.

Have you heard of cupping? YouTube it, I got a set for $8, I am 22mth post full tummy tuck, I'm very concerned as my stomach still has numbness, it's slowly getting better. I've also had digestive issues since my surgery so I've started digestive enzymes 2 at night on an empty tummy w big glass of water, probiotics 2 a day w food. I also drink a cup of chamomile tea w a teaspoon of Braggs apple cider vinegar (w the mother), add 2 tsp of Calm, (which is magnesium w calcium), it has all that has helped a ton. I also consume super foods by Purium. It may sound like a lot, but it all helps w all over health and may address what's going on. Super frustrating and scary I know. Coffee enemas (youtube Gerson coffee enemas), they clean the liver_ which has hundreds of functions. Someone who does Riki massage, or acupressure may also be helpful. Good luck

I am 15 years post tummy tuck and last year had to have surgery to close opening left by Dr. in belly button area that did tummy tuck. I have everyday swelling and pain especially after meals right above naval. After Dr. app. and ER visits was told could be scar tissue or having my stomach muscles stitched could be causing pressure on intestines. Continue to lose weight because it hurts to eat full meal. 1998 I weighed 216, in 2000 I weighed 153 pre tummy tuck weight, now I weigh 115 and I am 5 foot 7 inches. I wish you luck I have put up with this for a long time!!!

I had a tummy tuck January 15th, 2015 and I'm having the same problem! My stomach is bloated and my left side beside my bellybutton feels like there is a knot there. My PS tells me to give it time this is normal, I can tell something is wrong!! I didn't have the muscle repair, just skin removed 10 pounds 3oz. I worked so hard to lose weight (2 years) of struggling and then finally had the surgery I always wanted, now I've been let down. Can't afford another one!

6+ years post tummy tuck and I have been miserable since day ONE! The more I stretch or walk or sit or any activity, the more miserable I am. But being sedentary doesn't help either. I am in constant pain. If I cld reverse what has been done, I wld . I do believe it has to do with immune system, lymphatic etc. I also have the constant pain and hard round place at my "belly button" that is the most painful. Other surgeries have bothered Me also. I am in chronic pain

I am 1 year post op after a full tummy tuck and lipo to my lower back. I have been miserable since. Recovery was one of the toughest to go through and I anticipated that I would feel better in time but one year later and almost 11k dollars layer my stomach is tight and sore. I feel like I'm an old lady, can't lift anything heavy, can't even do a sit-up. I hate everyday! I didn't even want to see my doctor cause I know he'll never that he messed up. I don't know what to do...thanks for sharing your stories. At least I know I'm not alone...

I emailed my surgeon last nite, 5 years after tummy tuck/lipo. I've been having extremely painful back issues suddenly that I now believe are from this same "condition." These "pockets" of bloat just started, so I feel they are connected. My Dr. texted me this morning that he is out of the country for 2 weeks, but has alerted his colleague to contact me & see me this week. I will update this blog. To make it even more fun, I am getting married in 4 months, in case I have to have more surgery.... Plenty of time???? This cannot stay like this. I'm just as vain now as I was 5 years ago. You feel me, I know. :=) Stay tuned.

Has any one tried manual lymphatic drainage for the abdomen?

This might seem weird or way that you never thought about, but have you tried going on a gluten-free diet that probably could help as far as the swelling because it might not be coming directly from your tummy that they operated on, it might be coming from your food intake that goes into the stomach area so it's just worth a try. Cut out the bread and the gluten and the swelling and bloating feeling will go down. Maybe also try to eat very very small meals. Good luck and God bless.

I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has posted here and please keep this discussion going!  I am seven years post TT and some days I am in so much agony I cannot stand it.  I don't know what to do, so depressed, so sorry I did this to myself.  SWOLLEN and SO much pain in the upper area, unbelieveable gas and gas pains, bowel problems, pain in the ribs, painful back spasms, pain all over my body, on and on.  My husband is furious with me and not very sympathetic overall.  No one to talk to makes it so difficult  Thanks again everyone.... Oh by the way, I tried to talk someone out of it last year, she ignored me and did it anyway (of course) and has the same problems and has not recovered well at all.

It is likely a pseudo bursa. I understand the frustration and the lack of disclosure. Look for a top well respected plastic surgeon for hope of something better. By the way, a CT scan will provide you the diagnosis. Educate yourself and research. Start with pseudo bursa and Seroma.
