1 year late coming in on this but if you are still having problems and find this I do have some Info... Eight months after my tummy tuck I started experiencing the same thing. My cure was regular limphatic massage to get the water moving & Drinking & plenty of water ... My regular physician noticed my blood pressure was staying up so she put me on hydrochloride. A blood pressure pill which moves the water out. I belive the problem was caused from having so much of the limphatic system disrupted. I am now on a low does 15 mg which has fixed the problem. I would work on your limphatic system with massage from a therapist and get a small trampoline . Jumping up and down on that will get things moving too. Eat lots of watermelon which is a natural diaretic... I think having a good physician not your plastic surgen to help is a key to getting better.

I just found out I have gastroparesis. I had a tummy tuck that went badly, and I ended up with an umbilical abscess. I had a redo of my tummy tuck, and this doctor left my belly button looking terrible. But, after the 1st surgery I lost 35 lbs quickly. I had no appetite, and I ate yogurt and hard boiled eggs most of the time. I think this ability to eat very little hid my gastroparesis for a long time. Recently, it felt like I had an ulcer, and it felt better with food in my stomach. I began eating more food, and this is when I realized something was wrong. Initially they thought it was my gallbladder, but that is on the right side of the body, and my symptoms are on the left side. I am no afraid to eat anything. I get very bloated and I am not able to digest food. I would not recommend a tummy tuck to anyone, unless they really have sagging skin, and no other options. I agree...I wish I had embraced my body as it was. I didn't really need a tummy tuck. They were working on my breasts, and talked me into it. It was 10 hours of surgery that first time. The second tummy tuck didn't help either. It was all a big mistake for me, and now I can't even eat. Even small meals bother me. I'm living on apple juice, broth, and yogurt now...My tummy tuck was years ago, but I was always a small eater, so I didn't realize I had gastroparesis until now.

This is REAL. I think tummy tucks are the worst thing that can be done to a person. Not to mention, nobody ever mentions how painful they are! I have had 3 back surgeries, and I can tell you, a tummy tuck is the worst pain. You can hardly function for weeks. You really must have someone there to take care of you. Getting out of bed to go to the bathroom is unbelieveable especially at the beginning. It is a big sacrifice...one I wish I never made!

I had a tummy tuck 5 years ago in Orlando with two rows of stitching to hold my stomach muscles together again. I had two babies over ten pounds, therefore C-Sections. The swelling of your stomach I am sure at this point is due to scar tissue and the fact that we cannot eat fatty foods or sodium. I eat very carefully, mostly fresh vegetables and bland foods like cottage cheese with fruit. My swelling goes away if I stick to a raw diet and do not get constipated. It is like getting your stomach tied for weight loss. You have to change to accomodate your new body. If I drink over three drinks I know I will throw up. You can massage your own stomach and swollen area with avocado oil and lotions. Make sure you take probiotics too. They have helped me with the swelling. You will find that drinking tons of water with a squirt or two of grape juice in it helps reduce swelling too. Using the bathroom and drinking water alot help the tummy tuck swelling. I also walk when it is swollen and I feel constipated and it helps me go to the bathroom and ease the swelling. Unfortunately, we all will have swelling in the upper abdominal area because of the stitches. I am very happy that my excess baby skin that hung down is gone. Now I just have to deal with the stomach muscle stitching that swells due to foods. Try raw foods and NO sodium or spicy seasonings. A healthy diet and exercise daily with lights of water and you will find RELIEF. Jeannie

I too am more swollen on my upper abdomen. 1 yr post-op partial abdominaplasty here. I also feel a knot or bump over my belly button. I think I'm swollen because I'm gaining weight. I have started exercising my abdominals this past month and found that both, the swelling and the bump, go down when I do my exercises...and then comes back if I don't Excercise for more than 2 days. I hadn't exercised this whole year because I hurt my lower back lifting something heavy about 2-3 months after (and unrelated to) the surgery. Such a bummer. Now starting to exercise but slowly.

I'm five years post tummy tuck op and It's left me with two surgical hernias, terrible reflux and even all this time later I still have swelling on a daily basis above my navel. The shock of the surgery also caused me to develop Fibromyalgia which is a life-long chronic fatigue and pain syndrome. I can't prove the surgery was the cause but the timing fits and it was the only major life event for many years. All of this for the sake of vanity......dumbest thing I've ever done.

I am post 17 months after tummy tuck and lipo, I have the same problem with the upper part of my stomach, I 56 years old and I feel pregnant too. when I eat I feel my stomach swell and it takes a long time to go down usually not until the morning only to go through the same thing the next day. I am reading up on some things and will find a reason why this is happening. I feel that when I had the procedure done that the doctor did not tell me that my stomach would be cramped in the space that use to be twice its size, that may have something to do with this syndrome.
