I seem to have the same issues as most of you. I've had a variety of maladies for some time now that no one has been able to diagnose and I never know if they're interrelated (I suspect yes) or if they're separate.

The newest is the bleeding that never ends. It started a few months ago with spotting after I would have an orgasm or heavy activity. Anything that would shift or cause the cervix or uterus to contract. Each month has become heavier for longer boughts of time. So I was finally able to schedule an ultrasound, both outside and transvaginal and they tell me I have one very small fibroid that wouldn't have caused this. Wee. (I say it's my body getting back at me for years of not having periods at all.) The ultrasound itself was painful, not horribly so. Not so that I had to outwardly wince, but every time it was pointed in the direction of my left ovary I would get a sharp pang.

Now since the ultrasound which I had three weeks ago I've been experiencing the worst yet, extremely heavy bleeding with very large dark red clots that result in some serious cramping. I can "push" and it feels like I'm squirting water from a squirt gun or something into my pad (Blech) and the feeling of the huge clots passing is indescribably strange (Plop. Bleeeech.)

I haven't had a chance to get the blood work I needed done, and it's discouraging that every time I do I'm "within normal levels" when obviously something is off. (I've had irregular (an absence of) periods for most of my adult life, and I react horribly whenever I take any hormones or birth control pills. I have symptoms of hypo/hyper thyroidism, adrenal exhaustion and Polysystic Ovarian Syndrome and they never find anything wrong in my blood tests. *sigh*

I'm hopeful after reading your posts about synthroid being so beneficial since I already am experiencing thyroid problems, maybe that will really help. I've gotten to the point where, since I can't seem to find a good OBGYN, I'm working with what I have and trying to do my own research and requesting the tests done that she doesn't seem to know about. I've been to so many doctors and have so little results. When they called to tell me that the ultrasound showed I just have "one little fibroid and that's perfectly fine" I was like...SO? I don't care what's fine! Find what's not! I'm like hemorrhaging over here! Geesh.

I'm gonna try to get all my blood work done on Monday and hope something shows up. Guh I'm so tired of being looked at like a hypochondriac. I don't want to be sick, I just AM! I want to put a name to it so we can work on fixing it. I don't know why that's such a difficult concept for some people.

I hope all of you have better luck than I've been having. It is important to find a good doctor, don't just settle for the ones that tell you nothing's wrong. You know if something's wrong. At least my general doctor is really great, and I've been half seeing him for this as well, so maybe he'll have some insights. I plan to send him my blood test results too.

Hi. Ive recently found out that I have gallstones and need my gallbladder removed I dont think this has anything to do with my vaginal clots but who knows.

Ive been bleeding since September 21/08 which is 8 weeks this coming Sunday I believe. I went to eh hospital last night because a clot came out when I was changing my tampon and it was really heavy yesterday or 2 days ago. The clot was bigger than 1" across. I took it into the hospital actually. I know thats gross but I wanted ot make sure I wasnt dying. He said it was a 'normal' clot. So I dont know. He told me to get on birth control and have a pap test done by my family doctor.

My periods have been irregular for years now. Im 19 years old. I got my period when I was 10 and it was very normal for probly 4 or 5 years
then all of a sudden i would miss a fewl..then a few months..then a year so i went in to my doc and she tested me for polycystic disease and it came back negative so I dont know about that either. Then she put me on some little yellow ball pills to induce my period i guess you could say..she said it wasnt mandatory.

But now this is happening so I dont know. Im scared. No doctors seem able to give me a straight answer.

I have been experiencing this problem for over a year. I work for an obgyn
and had a Her Option in the office a year ago. Everything got a little better
until 5 weeks ago. I have been bleeding, cramping, and huge clots again.
Well again the hystosonogram was performed and it looks as though I have
polyps again. I am scheduled for surgery next week but scared to death
that something worse is wrong. I know how all of you feel. My doctor is
great and I trust in him that everything will be ok. I will keep in touch

To the person who bled for 40 days straight: count your lucky stars - I have been bleeding since September 2005 and it is now January 2009. Over half of the time is a heavy flow and about a quarter of the time is with large, golf ball sized or large clots. It gets so severe that I have to call into work sometimes. I finally found a doctor who a) believes I've been bleeding for so long and b) is willing to try to treat this.

Hi. I am having the same symptoms. I have been bleeding for a little over a month now. It sometimes will stop for a day but the very next day it will start over again. I have had clots the size of the palm of my hand. That is very scary. Also found out that I have Thyroid problems and was told that this is the cause of my problem, however my thyroid is very unstable and at this point the doc's don't know how to treat it. Every time I go to the doctor its different. When I was first diagonosed it was underactive my next app it was overactive my last visit it was underactive now I have to go back in Feb. to be tested. In the meantime I'm having surgery a D & C and a procedure called Enometrial Ablation I pray this is the answer.

Hi. I had the same problems only that I bled for 4-6 days. It started off very light and by the 3rd-5th day I was cramping, clotting, crying, popping pills,in bed,all of it. I went to a different doctor and he immediately told me what my problem was after me just saying I have painful periods. He scheduled me for a tubal ligation with a follow-up surgery 3 months after. The tubal ligation went well and I went under for Endometrial Ablation 3 months ago and that made it WORSE!!!!!!! Each month I bleed for atleast 3 weeks and I use up pads like crazy it's sickning. I went back to him and he said if it's no better by next month he's gonna have to repeat the Edometrial Ablation...I don't want to go to the next step after that which is a Hysterectomy I refuse to I'm only 34 yrs old. he must be crazy. So for anyone thinking about the Edometrial Ablation you may have to go under twice to correct it.

im 22yrs old, and im freaking out right now. im a young happily married newly wed, and i recently went on a trip to California to visit my family. i started my period on December 3rd or 4th i believe, and i left for my trip on December 5th. i ended on the 10th. i returned back home to my husband on the 15th. we had a few "enjoyable" nights shortly after i got back home, if you know what i mean. :$ right after those few days i started my period again. or so i though. i've been bleeding very lightly ever since then. its now the 18th of january and it hasn't stopped. i havn't had any blood clots really, but sometimes i get mentraul pains. either way, i think bleeding for almost 2 months is VERY abnormal. im freaking out though cause a few people mention hysterectomys. my husband and i, as well as both sides of our family are definitely expecting kids in our future. the sooner the better. so just the though of a hysterectomy is horrible to me.

does anyone know what might be going on? what i might have? or what i can do to help the situation? i'm terribly afraid of telling my husband that i might have to have a hysterectomy. :'( ? ? ?

I was so relieved to find this blog! I am a 20 year old college student who has NEVER had any health problems. I began bleeding lightly two years ago with only two three month breaks. My mom and I have never really discussed anything dealing with my period and I was way too embarrassed to introduce the topic. Now, I'm scared to death to go to the OBGYN. Around New Year's this year I began to have extremely heavy days. Sometimes, like others have said, I have awaken to find my pajamas soaked through and blood running down my legs! I feel like I have no control, this type of bleeding makes tampons AND pads, even together, useless. I am embarrassed just to leave the house not knowing what kind of day it's going to be. I feel like a slave to my period. I even decided to self diagnose myself by going on birth control which worked only for about a week.

The bleeding is apparently caused by uterine fibroids. I also have those and cervical cancer with a hysterectomy scheduled for next week.

Hi ladies and gent, I'm in SA and have a similar problem. Sex is painful and recently I've had a blood clots during that were rubbery and thick during my periods that lasted until Wednesday and since then it has stopped. I'm only 27 and don't want a hysterectomy. I'm going to to see my gynae this Sat and will let you know how it went.

I'm terribly scared. One of the pages I read said releasing clots is, believe it or not, "a way of healing". What load of bull. If all doctors recommend a hysterectomy, then I don't know what is meant by "healing"

Reading that there are other women going through the same thing I am going through really helps. I am a 25 year old mother of 2. I have been bleeding since November of 2008. Recently I have had blood clots (some as big as a golf ball or baseball) that are really frightening me. I had an IUD placed in 2007 and this was thought to be the cause of the constant bleeding so I had it removed last week. The IUD was placed because my doctor diagnosed me with poly-cystic ovarian syndrome and she said that the IUD would help with the symptoms (irregular bleeding, chronic pain, etc.). Well, since the removal of the IUD I have started bleeding worse and the blood clots keep coming. My doctor is not putting me on a hormone based medication to see if that will stop the bleeding. She has also discussed with me the possibility of a D&C to see if that would help. This problem has been emotionally draining me, in fact so much now that I have to meet with a psychiatrist next week. If there is anyone out there that may be able to shed some light on this situation....PLEASE HELP!!!
