Can anyone help? 28 year old female and otherwise very healthy. About 5 weeks ago noticed increased feeling of having to urinate. Then developed pain near vaginal opening and also in labia. Pain is of aching/burning quality. No blood in urine, and no noticable freakish discharge. All blood work, swabs and urine tests normal. Pain has improved, but frequency comes and goes, usually associated with pain or burning at vaginal opening.

What the heck is this???? Any ideas?

I am experiencing the EXACT same thing! Doctor's tests all cme out negative for EVERYTHING. First he didn't test for STDs and just bacterial infections but I persisted (even though I have one partner... just in case... who ever really knows) and even then all negative. The weird thing is that these are typical symptoms for various infections and STDs yet the tests are all negative. RRRR! So far nothing helps or cures it.

infection - there is no other explanation. now, it is hard to tell with which infection you are struggling, since almost every infection is manifested with burning after urination so you really need to visit your urologist and find the underlying cause. also, do you have this bad odor? if you do, you also may deal with a vaginal infection that can be combined with some sexual transited disease, such as yeast infection. this is nothing new, it happens all the time and sometimes it can just go away by itself, while sometimes it requires some antibiotics to be healed.

I've had the same thing for a month. Doctor treated for urinary tract infection but it persists. Symptoms come and go and vary from burning urethral opening and/or vaginal opening to sore feeling like after semi rough sexual intercourse. Feeling like I have to urinate and then discomfort when urinating often accompanies. I just saw my gyn, too, and he said this can be a symptom of pre-menepause but I don't buy it. Any ideas?

Have you considered Pelvic Inflammatory Disease? Doctors won't test for it unless you ask them too.

ive been urinating a lot nd every time i hold in my pee my lower abdomen hurts and feels like a balloon is in there. ive been going to gyn so many times b/c of my discharge and off the walls pissing. finally they were like we think u have PID(pelvic inflamatory disease) so they gave me all these antibiotics which didnt work, so i ended up going to the ER where they aint find sh*t either. so they gave me more meds to treat PID(which they dont even kno if i have it) and that aint workin. nd today i was having wat felt like period cramps and then i had this pink discharge which i seen before. but usally its greenish yellow. some one plz help if having same symptoms PLEEEEEEEZ!!

I've had these symptoms and they were a UTI (urinary tract infection). If your urine came back negative it could be because it has already progressed to a kidney infection (which I have also had). When it gets to that stage you still have pain urinating, and the pain in your stomach, abdomen or lower back increases. One of the main reasons for getting it is not cleaning up after sex. After sex make sure to PEE, it helps get rid of those symptoms. It has helped with me alot. Dr reccommended it, and it has helped (not totally got rid of them though).

Has anyone ever heard of vaginal burning syndrome, also known as vulvar vestibulitis? It is vaginal burning, which can persist for years. DOCTORS ARE NOT SURE WHAT CAUSES It. I was diagnosed with it a year ago, and my Doc has ruled out all STD's and infections. We are trying to treat it, but do not know the cause. Studies have been done, but no definite cause found. It is more prevelant in women who have had children. I also urinate frequently, but the vaginal discomfort is hard to love with. If you look up vulvar vestibulitis or vulvadynia, you can find more info. If you are having any sort of discharge, blood or fever, then you probably have something else. About 10 % of people with Interstitial Cystitis ( a bladder condition) also have vulvar vestibulitis. Many doctors will not even try to treat this burning syndrome. I went to 6 doctors before my very wonderful Doc . Good Luck to all of you who suffer...

Thank you all for posting this issue on the Web. As of yesterday, I started experiencing a sharp stinging pain from my bladder down my uretha tract. So when I peed, it stung. Then afterwards the urine that sat in my bladder stung and gave me a feeling of fullness to go again with very little urine in my bladder.

So to do something, I put some liquid anti-baterial soap down in that area which for some reason alleviated the pain completely for about 15 hours.

Then at 2AM in this morning, I went to go to the bathroom again. It felt like some barrier moved away and the sharp stinging pain came back. So I put some rubbing alchohol on a q-tip and treated the area that was stinging. Then dried it with tissue.

After reading everyone's postings that all of you have gone to your doctors and were treated with anti-bacterial meds even though all of your test results came back negative, it makes sense as to why my home remedy worked. I treated the pelvic inflamation like a common skin malady. If my pelvic inflammation was a bacterial related, then my treatment would not have done anything to relieve the pain. My doctor may have a salve that I could use that would be more helpful.

I have been dealing with this for over 6 years now. I have had every diagnoses and treatment you could imagine and nothing yet as even sort of worked. I can sometimes go months without symptoms, then out of no where, be unable to do anything for a day, then it will be gone. Sometimes it stciks around for a week, sometimes it only hurts for an hour, sometimes i cant move. Its not like a bladder infection where it just hurts when you pee, the pain always sticks around for a while after. No abdominal pain, just around the outside. Have racked my brain for any thing that might trigger it - no food/drink/sexual/emotional/physical/temperature or anything that relates to when this happens.

Has anyone had something like this and found a reason??!! Or anyone with an idea of something to look into. I'm home from work today because the pain is just so unbearable - yet i havent had pains for 3-4 months! HELP ME!

This has been going on and off for about 4 months... sometimes 2 weeks go by with no symptoms... at first i thought i got an infection from tampons... because the first time this happened was right after my monthly... but now i am not so sure because the pain keeps coming back randomly. i am a virgin... so its not STDs but its th worst thing ever! i feel like i have to go pee every 15 minutes and i cant control it. i wake up 5 times a night to go to the bathroom. and when i pee it hurts really bad... sometimes its really orange... almost red... but sometimes its regular and sometimes theres a little red discharge but i think they might be just leftovers from my period... there is no constant pain of my stomach or lower back but when i press on my lower stomach it hurts.... sometimes it stays for a week sometimes its just a day... im worried about telling my mom because the first thing she will assume is that i had sex. im worried after reading some of these posts...i dont get how so many women have these symptoms but no one is sure what it is? how can all the tests be negative? maybe it is something natural that is not considered a disease or infection? ?

I've been have the same problems for about 6 months - strange pressure in my bladder, frequent urination, pain in the vaginal area and rare, mild pain when I urinate. The general practitioner and gyno gave me antibiotics, ran tests, but nothing. I'm scheduling to see a urologist next, I will let you know if I find out anything helpful.
