hi all,
in september, because i was no longer sexually active, i went off the birth control pill after about 2 years. my periods have always been super light and i've never had excessive pms symptoms — sometimes i'd notice a skin blemish and light cramping but nothing more severe than that.
after i went off the pill i had a very, very light period in the middle of september that lasted about 2 days. usually my cycle is about 35-38 days from period to period.
on october 31 i had sex and although we did not use protection, he did not ejaculate inside me. i understand there is a chance of becoming pregnant from pre-ejaculatory semen.
since october 31 i did not get my period. i took two separate pregnancy tests (with 2 sticks each), one in the end of november and the other just yesterday, and both came up negative results. if i was pregnant, i would be nearly seven weeks and it would show up positive by now, correct?
i have not had any symptoms other than very tender breasts and some cramping, though every time i go to the bathroom and expect to see blood there is not any. the cramps seem to come and go every few days, ranging from mild to very severe. it should also be noted that in november i cut caffeine from my diet whereas i used to be a heavy coffee drinker. i also gained about five pounds since thanksgiving, though am still below average weight due to a succession of eating disorders when i was in my late teens and am still recovering (i am 22 now). i understand this might have something to do with it.
i used to be a heavy drinker as i am a bartender, but have stopped drinking and smoking last month since there is a chance i may be pregnant.
in november i entered a new relationship and have had sex more regularly (with protection). my friend told me that when she got into a sexual relationship after awhile, her period was off for about two months. is this true, or an old wives tale?
any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
