My son spent entire day at the pool last couple of days ago and when he returned home, I noticed that he does not hear all that well with its left ear. The next day he complained of the ear ringing and he also said that he hears the echo of his own voice. Doctor said that he has cerumen obturans but it is treatable. What is this condition anyway?

Cerumen obturans occurs when there is a big amount if ear wax accumulated in the outer ear channel. Obstruction of this channel might happen if that wax is pushed further down the ear channel (with ear cleaning sticks for example). Therapy is simple; wax is washed out with a 3% hydrogen solution. After that, he should be just fine.
