It is a form of dementia associated with shrinkage of frontal and temporal anterior lobes of the brain. Originally called as Pick's disease, it is an uncommon type of disease which can affect a person's ability to think, leading to behavioral and language problems.
It is either caused by the build up of abnormal proteins that form a cluster and become toxic or due to family history.
The symptoms of frontotemporal dementia are-
- Mood and behavioral changes
- Reduced speech and conversation
- Memory problems
- Movement problems
It is advised to see a GP in case any of these symptoms occur.
