Deep dish pizza's about the only original thing from this area. (A "Chicago-style" hot dog can be gotten anywhere.)

1. A Philly cheese steak.
:nono: If I were to move, I would miss cheese steaks. I would not, however, miss Philly cheese steaks. You should never eat anything called a "Philly cheese steak", only "cheese steak". Locals know what I'm talking about. i feel that i must use that "term" for the less educated to understand what i mean. just the thin steak, grilled onions and mushrooms and the melted provalone cheese. it just brings a tear to my eye

Nothing from around here really.....maybe Italian sausage sandwiches and pizza from the boardwalk, but that's at the shore. I'm not a big cheesteak eater and Tastycake is slowly making its way out west.

They had a pig roast at a tavern in Bar Harbor when I was there one year and when i got there it was like piranhas had been there, except they left the head intact. I had weird Lord of the Flies visuals.

I think I've got all of you...

South Louisiana has very distinctive food.

Gumbo
Crawfish... fixed any way
All the seafood
Everything Cajun
New Orleans style food
jambalaya
Tony Chachere's seasoning

Yeah, grits too, even though they're all over the south.
