I have a lump- looking thing on my wrist and my science teacher told me not to worry and that it was just a calcium build up. First of all... what is that, how does it occur, and how do you get rid of it?

Well, actually this could be numerous things, such as tendonitis, swelling due to trauma, carpal tunnell, etc. but if it is a calcuim buildup, it is harmelss but may become uncomfortable after awhile.
A calcuim biuldup is sclerosis or hardening of th bone and soft tissue which is caused by too much calcuim in your body. The actual cause of why this happens in your body is unknown. As for treatment, you can take oral medications or get cotizone injections. For home treatment, you can apply a padded ice pack if you are experiencing discomfort. Good luck
