I'm doing this for my sister, she has no computer.
She's 23, and has had 2 children. She's been taking ortho tri-cyclen for a while now.
The freaky thing is, she's been bleeding for 14 days straight. She said she's not really cramping. But the colors have ranged from light red to a v. dark red, and a very light pink, clotting, and a heavy flow. She's also very bloated.
The women in our family usually get a very heavy flow with clotting, but she said it's happening more than she's ever had before.
What she wants to find out is whether or not it could be related to the birth-control, and if she should go to the emergency room or not. If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Your sister's period could be normal... Sometimes periods are longer or shorter than normal.. If she previously had a lighter period (ie last month) than sometimes the next month her period can be heavier..
The range in blood is to a degree normal too, because of the shedding of the uteran wall (this is why the v dark red blood).
If this continues she should see her obgyn. And yes it could be because of her b/c pill. Some women have reactions to the pill and they bleed a very long time.
To put her mind at ease she should make an appointment with an OB.
Take care.
