my daughter, 17weeks 5 days gestation from IVF just returned from a visit with the high risk OB that did the specialized sonogram and they couldn't find the babies kidneys and also found a total absence of amnio fluid. It was mentioned that it was hard to get a good look w/o amnio fluid. How accurate is the sono, any other tests we can perform, what will happen next?

The test that are done now a days are pretty accurate...It would be very hard to say right now as to what other test may be done...
I would have to say that the baby may not make it to full term, even so it may be stillborn, there is no way to correct this problem if the baby doesnt have functing kidneys....
Potters Syndrome usually has both kidneys and the bladder missing, and the chances of the baby surving are slim to none...Im very sorry, and I wish you both the very best.....
