I had my hip replaced 9 months ago after 3 years of pain (I was born with hip dysplasia and arthritis took over my hip). I lived in a constant state of throbbing pain and limping everywhere. I had my hip replaced at Massachusetts General and I am now PAIN FREE. It's as if I never had a hip problem. All the new titanium (non-cemented) implants are having very long lives. 25+ years is now the norm...............any doctor who tells you they won't perform one on a younger person (who is in significant pain) is not very up on the latest prostheses nor is very confident in their own skills as a surgeon. I'd go elsewhere if I was told that outdated information. Be sure to get a great doctor at a very well established hospital. Don't go cheap when getting a new hip.
