i have the same problem of getting pins and needles in my arms and hands & fingers at night when i am sleeping and yes it wakes me up too. this has been happening for last 2-3 onths now. i was v worried about it and finally got ropund to seeing the doctor. he didnt know what it could be straight away so sent me to have a blood test. Results came back fine, but i still have the problem. Tried changing my ways of sleeping as I thought i might be ptting too much weight on my arms when sleeping and maybe coz i have put on more weight this could eb the reason. but i have tried sleeping with no weight on the arms now, but still get the numbness. now i dont really know what to do as its hard for me to take time off for doc appointments. i have even started to feel the tickles at work in the day now. Not as bad as at night, but i am scared they will get worse. Dont really know what to do except try and lose weight and eat healthy (if that is the cause) and hope tat it will go away.

How is your vitamin B12 intake? Are you a vegetarian? How often do you eat red meat? A low B12 intake will cause pins and needles in the sleep. Maybe get that checked out if you're going to the doctors anyhow :) Good luck! God bless :D

I have had pins and needles in both arms from elbow down for over 1 year now. I am 44 years old. It disturbes my sleep every night. I have read alot on this problem and have decided it is not carpel tunnel as there is no pain associated with my tingles just numbness. It also happens to me when I wake up in the morning while on the computer or just sitting drinking my coffee and usually dissapears within 1 hour for the rest of the day. I have been told to drink more water, tried this made no difference. The comment someone left about your pillow has caught my attention as I recently was on holidays and I had the best nights sleep for 5 days and I have been trying to figure out what was different.  I will go buy a new pillow today as this problem is causing much stress in my life as I need my sleep.

I'm experiencing this too. I think the pillow may be a good idea as I recently slept on a blow up air bed and felt no pins and needles then as soon as I returned to my bed there back!

What pillow do you recommend?

im only 21 and i've been getting these pins and needles in my arms and hands.

Right now im lying on my tommy and typing and im getting pins and needles. its the same even if i have a pillow under my chin or the laptop is lower than my bed.

Its very strange because I dont sleep with my arm under my head so the blood should really be going around fine but it looks like its not.

Thank you everyone for your comments. i will call my doctor tomorrow.

pins + needles?

likely it is nothing. and will go off in a few days or weeks.

really no point bothering doctor for something so minor - especially if under age of 55 or so.

I have been having the same symptoms for several weeks now. I also suffered from dizziness and trouble speaking about 10 months ago and 2 MRI's later had found non specific changes in the brain. This can happen and the body can repair itself. But my Neurologist said I should look out for tingling in the hands or visual, speech disorders ect as it could be Multiple sclerosis. Which is a deffinate cause to go back to the GP or Neurologist about. Which is what I am going to do. In the meantime take a Vit D tablet 1000IU unit a day.

FII've got the same problem and it is also cervical spine related to do with the bones and marrow and the doctor says there is nothing they can do, it is part of aging... However wanted to know if anyone has any relieving remedy as yet, as apparently the uric acid is also high...
