Sounds like you might have carpal tunnel. I had surgery and wished I hadn't waited to get it done when my injury happened. Go to your doctor! Don't worry how "important" it is. It is IMPORTANT. When it is this bad you need to see your doctor. It can get so bad you can do permenent damage.

I'm a 43 yr/o male.... similar things going on with me, but I think I got bit by something 5 weeks ago in my sleep (Brown recluses and black widows are aplenty in my area). Woke up with red mark on my left foot and could barely walk.... left ankle swelled immediately, right ankle swelled a couple of days later and had mild edema in ankels and wrists. Also had intermittent pins and needles from the elbows down and from the knees down.  Joint and muscle pain as well in my forearms and calves. I developed a rash on my left arm which I thought was coincidentally posion ivy (and may have been).... but poison ivy doesn't normally take 4-5 weeks to heal.  Compression socks, a high protein diet and tons of bananas, vitamin B, extra hydration and Ginkgo Biloba helped a little. Finally, the swelling started to subside this past weekend as did the pins and needles. Yesterday and today have been 85% back towards normal.

I should also mention that a friend of my girlfriend went to the Dr Friday with the exact same symptoms.... Her Dr diagnosed her with a mutated "known virus going around" that mimcs rheumatoid arthritis and includes mild edema. He advised her to expect it to last for approximately 6 weeks. I have no health insurance so I held out until I could make some sense out of what was going on or until I couldn't take it anymore. Luckily I am feeling better.

Not sure if my story will help any of you..... but this pins and needles thing seems to be all over the map as far as the cause. I've read all kinds of info ranging from nerve issues, autoimmune issue to organ and/or heart failure. I'm thinking/hoping my scenario is likely a nervous system reaction to an insect bite or possibly viral. The virus thing sounds almost too crazy to be true.... but who knows... we've pumped so many antibiotics into people and animals over the years, anything is possible.

I was getting this too, for three nights in a row this week. Then I looked into the vitamins I had just started taking which 500mcg of folic acid, plus 500mcg of B12 with 120mg iron. I researched b12 overdose and came up with numbness and tingling in extremities, there was a similar result for the folic acid so I'm not sure which, but the next night, which was last night I took a multi with only 50mcg B12, and 100mcg folic acid, and I had no numbness or wakefulness. So I am going to check this with the doctor when I see her tomorrow. I'm five weeks pregnant and obviously wanting to make sure my Folic Acid is adequate.

I used to have this, but I was told its poor circulation and that I needed to drink Tonic water with Quinine and it went away soon after that.. I guess I was told I was lacking magnesium. is this true?
