I am 38 and had an ablation 3 years ago. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and everyday that I continue carrying our baby boy is a mircle. I do not recommend that anyone get preg. after a ablation. The rate of successfrul outcomes beyond 20 weeks are few. I am at risk of bleeding out and also was told I will most likely need an emergency hystorectomy after delivery. I am very scared everyday I feel like I am sitting on dynomite and that I will begin to bleed. I have placenta previa also, which means I will most likely need a C section. I live in a small northern mich. town with a very small hospital the nearest high risk neonatal unit is hours away and my last baby came in 20 min. I will most likely have to be flown out to a different hospital. Please anyone who wants any information or is going through the same thing please write me I feel very scared and alone.

please pray for my baby boy and I.

I am 37 with 3 healthy children. I feel selfish to want another after I had a tubal and ablation. My heart aches for another baby, so do the hearts of my kids. I have been researching successful pregnancies post op. The feeling does not subside. Hebrews 13: 5 says "Be content with what you have..." but maybe God will bless us with another. Keep praying and trusting that God knows best!

to the woman who is 30 weeks, i wish you well and hope that you can carry the baby at least another 4-6 weeks so you can deliver at nearly full term! i was wondering. after your ablation, did you continue to have healthy and regular periods? was this pregnancy planned or just happened? did your doctor say that the linning after 3 years just grew back so you were able to conceive? please let me know and thank you, god bless, cheryl 8)

Hi I’m a 25 year old mother of four One girl three boys I had my tubes tied in 2003 and then in June 1 2004 had an ablation done. MY husband and I have now come to the agreement that it was one of the worst mistakes of our lives. We want a baby girl so much to even out our family I want to know if anyone out there has heard of a doctor that has preformed IVF after a woman has had an ablation? with micro-sort we are assured a girl and I wouldn't need my tubes untied. What medications are some of you pregnant mom on? anything to help "keep" the pregnancy estrogen progesterone. anything to thicken the lining enough for a pregnancy all of my other pregnancy were with out troubles. perfect babies. ~cin~ ? ? ? ?

Has anyone had any luck with a successful pregnancy after ablation? I went to a fertility doctor for a few months and my uterine lining measured around 5.5 mm, he said I had maybe a 5-10% chance of pregnancy. Anyone have any updates.

I have read all the posts on this subject and as a result have mixed feelings. I desperately want another child but had thermal ablasion done a few years ago (before the age of 35). My husband had a vasectomy 9 years ago and is willing to get it reversed if there is a good chance I could become pregnant. Does anyone have any information on this or have any advice on what to do first? Thanks!

First I want to start my entry saying how great it is to hear these stories. Either way (having a sucessful pregnancy or not) it has been the best source of encouragement for me yet.
I am now about 7 weeks pregnate and I had a ballon ablasion approx 3 and a half years ago. I have two other healthy children but was diviorced. I'm now remarried since Dec and my husband has no children of his own. Last night I took a pregnacy test and BAM! POSITIVE!!
I don't know ANYTHING yet, except a rough time line. But I will be getting with my ob tommorrow.
I have had a regular period for about 1 yr. When I first had the ablasion I had no bleeding at all. Over time my cycle has became more and more. I'm sure this is due to my lining healing itself.
I've read all the posts. I'm amazed at how supportive everyone is. I intend on keeping you posted because I see and understand the need to know the outcome. (good or bad)
Wish us luck!! and send bunches of prayers!

I had an abaltion about a year ago and now I am 10 weeks pregnant. So far my High Risk OB said the pregnancy looks like a normal pregnancy. Between my Hight Rish OB and my regular OGBYN, they are doing a weekly ultrasound to to may sure everything is looking fine. So far, so good.

Wish me luck

I am 39 years old. I had rollerball ablation over 3 years ago. I recently gave birth (in September) to a healthy baby girl. My pregnancy didn't go without problems. I was hospitalized at 25 weeks and given a cerclage due to funneling/shortening of my cervix. I came home on bedrest a week later. 3 weeks later my water broke at 29 weeks. I was again put in the hospital on bedrest. I delivered my baby at 31 1/2 weeks. She had rec'd steriod shots for her lungs, and other than her small birthweight she was fine. I did have to have an emergency hysterectomy after her birth due to placenta increta (the placenta had grown half way through my uterus). She spent 18 days in the NICU before coming home. I would not encourage pregnancy after an ablation without the consultation of a willing high risk ob/gyn. My pregnancy was truly a miracle!

I had an ablasion and became pregnant. I carried to 24 weeks and started bleeding out. They life flighted me and did and emergency hyst. My baby girl didn't not survive. Did anyone tell you whom are pregnant about the possible mental and physical handicaps of the baby? My pregnancy did look normal but we were terrified. At the time of my situation there were on 23 reported cases which was in 2002. Good luck to all. What I would have given to know more info at the time it happened to me.

Wow. I'm having the darndest time trying to find any information on pregnancy after ablation.

A little over a year ago, I had the Nova Sure ablation done, and I didn't have a SINGLE period after that. I was so sure I was just...safe...

Here I am, a year later, and I am 9 weeks along with the most miraculous UTERINE pregnancy. My regular OB acts like I have nothing to be worried about, but I'm FREAKING OUT!!!

I thought I was done with having kids, but I'm still young (26) and, like I told my doctor, now that the opportunity has presented itself (for another one), I'm thrilled. I just feel like I'm holding my breath and waiting for the ball to drop. I'm so scared that something will happen...

I too had a Thermal Endometrial Ablation done. I am now 28 yrs old. My husband and I had to weigh the risk. After our second child was born I had my tubes tied. I am not sure if that was a wise move. I have always had HEAVY periods and we were told that having my tubes tied might help.. so I had it done. Well, my son is now 2 yrs old and I have never gone more then 3 days per month without bleeding. My iron and blood counts were dangerously low. No doctor was able to control my bleeding. We finally were referred to an OB-GYN specialist and he said I had 2 choices.. either an Ablation or a Hysterectomy. I picked the Ablation. I am SO happy with the results. I had the Ablation done on Sept 20th 2007 and had heavy or light bleeding from Sept 20th - Oct 30th. From Oct 31 to today (Jan 8, 2008) I have not had anymore bleeding. YES! I just wish I could have one more child... but the doctors told me it was pretty much near impossible and it would be dangerous for me. So I just thank god everyday for the 2 happy and healthy children I do have.
