To all of you getting this reaction: it has nothing to do with your medical histories. You have simply developed an allergy or sensitivity to either the glue that's being used or the acrylic itself. If your fingers/fingertips are burning , swelling or itching, take an allergy pill but most importantly take the nails off! you could end up losing your real nail if the symptoms persist.

This happens to me all the time. I do my own artificial nails, its a struggle, but I do. And each time, my skin ALWAYS starts peeling on the sides and they're really irritating and really painful. I don't want to peel it but sometimes I have to. Then my skin turns red. Please explain to me what I do so I wont have to go through this struggle again

I m going though the same exact thing because I have them wrapped with band aids and ointment underneath. I love to have my nails decorated for holidays and as others stated I can't keep my real nails manicured for more than a day, first bout of dishes and the Polish is gone. I am going to try the Vite stuff in hopes that this fixes things. I thought it was the primer but this last time I didn't use it and still have the same problem. I think it is the acrylic liquid, and when u have filed them before applying the liquid and caught ur cuticles it's even worse. i am in pain and don't want to touch them to take them off,I just did them and aim going nowhere near acetone to soak them off. I have tried every ointment and now am on diaper rash cream, and no lotion does nothing.

Hello I also have the same problem. It started 3 years ago.  I was allergic to acrylic nails after having my nails done for 20 years.  I went to a few new places but the same thing happened.  My skin hurt so much and cracked skin and peeling they looked awful.  I gave it a rest for about 1 year then I started to do the gel It costs $50 but problem solved.  Did that for the last 2 years and the place I go to talked me into acrylic again and it happened again craqcking itching.  I am going to take them off wait awhile and go back to gel and will never ever do acrylic again.  I read once that you are allergic once you will always be allergic.

I had only one application of gel nails. After a year now, my finger tips are still bleeding. My poor nails are ruined, thin, break off, even under the nail bed, the nail comes away from the skin, and it is so painful I can almost not bare it at times. I wrap my fingers in banades to help with the open skin, and after a few days, 24-7 this easies my horrible pain in the finger tips. I guess I will have this always. I'm so sick about it. I want to sue someone. Really. But don't know of a lawyer who would handle a case like this. So many women are damaged and I have read even may have cancer from this disgusting practice. It's a nightmare !!!!

I've heard this can actually be caused from a bacterial fungus that can be spread around at nail salons since there are a lot of places that don't clean their tools properly. This also has happened to me a few times while wearing nails. Maybe try going to a place where you know everything is disinfected properly. Hope this helps!!! :)

You can get an allergic reaction to acrylics nails or anything for that matter at any point. It doesn't matter how long or how frequent you have been having them. You get the allergic reaction from your Technition getting product on your skin. It's overexposure. Every time you have acrylics nails the problem will only get worse each time. You should move and have your nails extended with hard gel or just gel polish on your nails. I am a nail Technition and have seen some horrible things from people not listening to advise and continuing to have acrylics. Be sure your technition doesn't get anything on your skin with any products apart from cuticle oil or you will get a reaction to the next products you use.

Same problem here! Used cms but now stopped completely. It does get worse. Am I ok with just gel polish or normal polish?
It is the acrylates and over exposure.
Should issue warnings at salons
