My fingers are going through the same thing and I am so sad about it. I can’t go to the salon to get my nails done or it will start up again. I took a break from the nail salon for about a year and finally decided to go back to the nail salon. The first time I got them done, there was no big deal. The next time I got them done they were acting like they were dry and then the peeling started all over again. My toes do the same thing. Smh. I’m so sad because I have been getting my nails done for years as well and all of a sudden this issue comes out of nowhere! Dermatologist just gave me some cream as well, but it only goes away

I have had the same reaction with peeling, itchy skin around my nails when I’ve had acrylic nails done. However, when I have SNS nails there is no adverse problems at all! Worth a try. Nails just as beautiful.

I used to do my nails and my family and friends nails as well, one day I dropped some acrylic on my clothing on my leg, and that night I had a red itchy rash (common to an allergy) on that same spot. I did my own nails later that week and the itching started... For the past 5 years I have struggled with this because the skin peels off up to my first knuckle and it looks terrible. Using only polish is also a problem because I am very hard on my nails so they break or the polish chips off within a few days. I have noticed if I rest my nails a while and then put acrylics or gel on it is not so bad, but after the second or third set it flares up worse every time? It's sad to know I have developed an allergic reaction to nails... When I do family or friends nails now I need to wear gloves and make sure I get no contact on my skin... A way to also test it is drop some of the nail product you want to use on the inside of your arm... leave it a while and see what happens - If you get ANY allergic reaction then you might be allergic. I am relieved to find out I am not the only one that this is happening too - your nails always end up looking so pretty but your fingers looks like monster hands... and gross!!
I will just have to stick to my normal nails I guess... Sad!! Maybe it's the universes way of telling us to love ourselves the way we are haha!!

So glad to know I am not alone with this skin issue on my fingers. I am a nail biter. Have worn acrylic nails for 8 years no issue. As soon as I went through menopause, things changed. I am also a holistic nutritionist and tried home remedies. Here’s what I noticed for me..I react to the glue, and the primer they put on as mentioned above that helps the gel adhere. I have tried the UV gel where she dips in liquid then powder. She gets the chemicals on my skin from the brush. My skin gets soooo itchy!!!! I got tiny bubbles, skin peeling, and pus. Not good. I took a break and tried gel without the chemicals it was better, but not completely. I believe my body is lacking collagen and my skin around nails is sensitive. Even the sanding affects my skin. I am currently trying to heal the peeling skin. Sea Salt helps and baking soda!!! Topical vitamin E. I think the salons use cheap products. I hope they come out with a better solution for us nail biter’s experiencing this.

Hey girls I'm having a hell of a time and I have worn acrylics for 40 years. Just the last 2 applications burning, then little blisters, when they pop my skin around nail bed then, peel bad almost to my first knuckle. I don't want to go without, but I can't have this happen everytime it took 4 weeks before I could fill them, I just filled them and it happened again. I've read some of the things everyone is doing after the fact but anything to do to prevent it

I found my solution for this! I’ve been suffering with painful cracked fingertips after getting my acrylic nails for months. I have a friend that is a nutritionist and she told me about the benefits of soaking my hands in a cup of warm milk mixed with 2 tablespoons of honey. It worked! Took all the pain and redness away plus my fingertips stopped peeling. Hope this helps someone : )

!!!!!!!Everyone in this thread should really stop using acrylic nails as sad as it is, and as sad as I am for you!!!!!!!

A lot of people here I feel are at high risk of developing an allergic reaction due to the possibly the technique of how much the nail tech is exposing you during application or harshness of the chemicals. Unfortunately continuing on to wear acrylics when you develop an allergy only makes you more and more reactive over time

BUT the bigger issue is you become allergic to nail ingredients which are VERY common in dental work and everyday products!!

I was watching a lady having this struggle to the point her hands severely peeled over the years of it getting worse from using everyday products AND EVEN HAD TO WEAR GLOVES FOR HER SKINCARE APPLICATION ON HER FACE TO NOT CAUSE A REACTION, her everyday life was a struggle because the same ingredients are in so much of our daily use.

please consult Your doctors to asses, because once an allergy like this develops there is no going back.....

Sorry for the caps, just looking to warn people before it happens to them! Stay safe out there, know your limits and take care of yourself! Wishing everyone the best
