This also happens to me. My cuticles are very sore, tender, red and a little swollen for about the first week and a half. I am thinking that the companies that make the primer solution have changed something in how it is made... Changed the formula. I think at this point, for me, the only solution is to take them off. I've had them on for over twenty years.

My nail tec said I just have dry skin. nope, because it only happens when I get them filled in! Its driving me crazy and hurts really bad!! I think the solutions they use are stronger now because Ive wore these nails for years and never had a problem before. Im just really over this :/ !!!!!!!!!! Any help out there??

I have the same itching, then peeling of skin under and around the nail. My thought os that it is actually a skin burn from the dremel tool used for filing. It doesnt quite touch the skin, but comes close enough to irritate the skin

Everyone is talking about tips. I don't even have my manicurist put tips on my nails. Just adds acryllic to the tops of my own nails and shapes the way I wish my nails were shaped. The last two visits (after 20+ years) my fingertips above the 1st knuckle and all the way to the tips have been insanely itchy right after the appointment ended. It takes about a week of my fingers being itchy and sore, then the skin under my nails start to split, crack and peel. My fingers get hard and swollen and i use liquid bandaid on the ones that split. The thumbs are the worst by far. I am going to ask my tech if she recently changed products. Since the itching is exactly where the acetone bath hits my skin, I am thinking it is the acetone. Anyone else have it effect only the spot where you fingers are dipped in the acetone bowl?

I have this same issue and I use the same process you do. I'm devastated because I love the look of my nails but they are starting to get painful. I could handle the itch, kind of, but not so accepting of the pain. Did you ever find anything that works for you?

Yes I waited more than a year and the same exact thing happened all over again. Once you're allergic you're allergic for life. Just avoid them.

I am glad I'm not the only one. But I have noticed its way worse if I get shellac on top of acrylic.

I kinda have the same problem but it's more little peeling in my hands and it's kinda rough and kinda itchy. It was a weird feeling Bc I never had that feeling and didn't happen to me before. So I scheduled a dermatologist and he said that I have some type of eczema and I also have diabetes so it happens that I had it. He said that I shouldn't go to nail salons bc they are more going to give me an eczema problem. I haven't been to a nail salon in 1 year I think and the last time I went was last week or so and it started kinda itchy and a little bit of peeling. It made me think that when I did the acrylic it made it come back for some reason. I hope this helps. Maybe you have some time of eczema problem or something, just check in your dermatologist.

Hello all. I've suffered the same symptoms as you all and recently I had my nail tech change the nail shape and that helped a lot. I still got the peeling skin but no pain or itching and it wasn't as noticeable. My nail tech shaped my nails like a "coffin", also known as ballerina nails. That made a huge difference.

It's possible to develop an allergy. Especially if you've been constantly exposed to the acrylic nails. The more you are exposed to something, the more likely you could develop an allergy. It happens a lot.

This is what is happening to me too!! It never used to and now all of a sudden about a week or two into having acrylic nails on, BOOM!! You wouldn't BELIEVE how bad it's gotten this time! Every single finger is peeling....BADLY! Idk what to do to fix it! Obviously I'm taking the acrylic OFF... but I want to know how to heal the peeling! Intensive Repair lotions are not working. I'm thinking of buying a fungal cream. I've read that it may not be an allergic reaction it may be a fungal issue.

YES! i have issues with cracking and bleeding too. Have had fake nails of some type or other for 0ver 20 years. I'm having them taken off tomorrow. Not sure what i'm going to do, but they will be ugly, short and paper thin.

Interesting to read these comments. My symptoms are the same, pealing skin up to the first knuckle except I do not have acrylic nails but gel & gel polish. Just started happening after a year without it issue.

You explain exactly the symptoms I have, and where I have them (and also only the last two visits for me as well). But my nail tech doesn't use acetone on my fingers. She just sands down the old acrylic and then adds new, then shapes and finishes them. Si in my case, it's not acetone that's causing it. It's very frustrating because my own nails have always been prone to flaking and splitting, plus I'm a nail biter, so it's impossible for me to have nice natural nails.
