Wow, I was just browsing through sites and I stumbled across this thread. Please, anyone reading this thread DO NOT listen to what anyone has said on here, especially the first post/response, which is COMPLETELY WRONG. People don't respond with medical advise based just on what you've heard or experienced...Adderall is NOT an SSRI or MAOI it is amphetamine salts. Zoloft is an SSRI NOT a n MAOI. The potential for interaction between the two is possible but EXTREMLY unlikely. Taking thw two together isn't any more "double dosing" than adding oil to your engine and gas to your gas tank.

I am 25. I started on Zoloft when I was 23, for anxiety and partially for the post partum depression after my first and only child. My dr. also prescribed me xanax, as needed, for emergency panic attacks. With the Zoloft, I started at 15 mgs and am currently taking 75mgs daily. In the beginning I definitely noticed a weight change, lost about 10 pounds but since then I have stayed about the same weight. 4 months ago I went back to my psychiatrist to let him know my anxiety was peaking a lot more than normal and I was more unorganzied than usual and that friends and family were always telling me to slow down. My dr. eneded up prescribing adderrall at 15 mgs (xr) daily. I havent felt any bad side effects thus far. I have been able to sleep better because I take the adderall in the morning and by the end of the day it is about worn out of my system. My anxiety is kept at bay.

My Dr. did reccommend that I take a break in taking the addrerall weekly. Zoloft takes time to build up in your system to work, where as the adderrall kicks in about 15-20 mins after you take it. In order for my body/mind not to become dependent on it, I try to take a break from it on days when I feel I wont be as stressed and frantic.

Good Luck :)

That's not just it most people can't loose weight with just "little exercise and a diet" thank you very much and I don't think that's what people care abt I think we get your point it didn't make you gain weight but It made me gain 10 pounds which isn't much and Yess I do have an eating disorder but I'm not blaming it on Zoloft to excuse my eating disorder I've been working hard to get over it and I think it's not fair that your not open to others opinions

I work in a pharmacy and I have read the med guides with Zoloft (sertraline) and a side affect is weight loss as well as appetite suppression. It is an SSRI. Zoloft Prozac Cylexa and Lexapro are SSRI’s that have been clinically proven to decrease weight gain and/or maintain weight. Paxil however is an SSRI that has been found to cause weight gain.

I lost 5.5kg (12 pounds) since taking Zoloft. No changes to my diet or exercise.

And 3 other people I know on Zoloft - same thing. Weight LOSS.

Serotonin is quite responsible for sleepiness and hunger. If you take Zoloft long enough most will gain weight. Obviously depends on your diet and willpower. Every time I up my dose I gain 10 lbs and if I cut down I lose some. It's not the medicine making you gain weight it's the extra calories from the food eaten caused by the serotonin continuously in the brain. Everyone's different though and other medicines will affect
