Adult tonsillectomy-post op day 5

I had my tonsils takint out on Thursday. Its now Monday i haven't eaten im on Morphine from the pain, that isnt helpiny beimg unable to eat anything is hard. Im back in hospital blood sugar levels are low and still unable to eat. On all the pain releif in the world still not helping your story by far is less painful. I hope i can eat ans drink soon.

hi i am 16 years old and had my tonsils out 8/4/17. i am currently on day 5 post op and the experience hasn't been bad for me yet, i can see the top of my scabs coming off but there's no pain at all. i guess everyone is different? before the surgery i was prepared to feel like i was swallowing glass as one girl explained it, but it just feels like a case of strep throat. no earaches or toothaches either!! good luck

Day 6 for me! You were probably bleeding more frequently because you were using straws!! Scratch that.. obviously your doctor is an id**t. Straws create a suction similar to a vacuum- bringing pressure along the throat thus causing your bleeding

I am 22 and had my tonsils, addenioids taken out as well as a Bi lateral turbinate reconstruction done for my nose. I don’t want to be one of those people who says it’s literally the worst thing you can go through in your life, because it’s not. There are big spouts of a lot of pain and there is hardly any pain. I am day 4 post op and today has had to of been the worst day thus far, I seem to be saying that every day so we shall see if tomorrow is worse or not. I am taking liquid Vicodin every 5 hours and it makes me so sick to my stomach. I started using children’s ibuprofen to help cope with the pain which In my opinion is a life saver! I would take this over a narcotic any day. As for advice on the pain, yes it’s going to suck and be painful and you’re going to be begging for all of the pain to stop just so that you can eat something or just get through the day . The pain is not constant thanks to modern day medicine so that is good, but when the medication does wear off and it wears off pretty quick, you will be in a ton of pain. Don’t worry just breathe through it , pick yourself up and get the courage to take your pain meds and do the whole process all over again. I’m sure it will get easier, I have not experienced that at all yet, but I still do not regret getting them out even with my 9/10 pain. So be optimistic and stay hydrated, that’s all you can do any way !

i’m 17 and i’m on day 5 and i’ve been pretty damn dumb this whole time and have been in the worst pain , the first day i went in at 5:30 am and i went home straight after at like 10 am i felt perfectly fine when i woke up and all day and then they’re asking me to just wait an hour so i can walk and eat for them and i was like i can do it rn and i just stood up and walked and i ate this icee right away and just left and then i was telling everyone oh this will be sooooo easy and i went home and that night i also went to bed at 5 am so i only slept for 30 min , and then i went home did my makeup cleaned my room and i went out allll day and i smoked and everything and then it hit 11 pm and i just automatically got super tired and in pain and i realized i done screwed up doing that so i went home and to bed and day 2 was absolutely the worst i also got into a fight that night on day 2 so i was screaming hella and hitting people and then i was went to sleep and day 3 the pain wasn’t bad at all but then my bf decided to break up w me and it was awful so i was just sitting here depressed and everything and he’s out f*****g bit***s and hurting me while i’m in pain and can’t get out of bed !!!!! so then day 4 came and honestly ever since my bf did that i didn’t even think ab my throat i was just thinking ab how he did that to me during this so i don’t even know what my pain was like for my throat but then day 4 night which was last night i ubered him to my house to talk it out w me bc he was stranded and then i ended up screaming more bc he was being so mean to me and then he got a ride and went to this place so i ubered myself over there and we talked it out but then i found out he did that just to make me leave so anyways i go home it’s like 3 am i wake up at 5 to find out he’s apologizing and sh*t and then he’s telling me he did shrooms after he said he wouldn’t do any drugs w out me when it was his idea and that he spent the night with another girl so then he left and it’s 5 am and i’m ready to beat the bit***s ass AGAIN , and i’m literally in hella pain rn i haven’t ate in days only popsicles and smoothies and water and i drank ensures , like no food but i felt so awful i just passed out and got ov it and then it’s now still day 5 in the morning and im in the worst pain ever i definitely do not recommend doing what i did i was dumb and just heartbroken and i rlly regret getting this out at this time bc i was supposed to next month but i got in early and im sitting here not able to talk or swallow and i have a fever and i got prescribed no meds so im also not taking any meds at all during this and i think this def has to be the craziest thing that’s happened to me

Hi everyone I’m 32, my day one after op was good but I started throwing up at 6:00 pm. This happened on days 1,2 and 3. Pain was controlled but little that I ate was gone by 6:00 pm. Day 4 was the hardest, pain was at 9/10. My pain has vanished on day 5, last I took pain killers was at 6:00 pm. It’s now 3:00 am and I’m fine pain is at 2/10. I am so confused and worried that it might get worse. So far I have been ok except for throwing up. Once I changed my meds the nausea went away.

I'm on day 4 post-op tonsillectomy, and I'm dying for real food! Is it ok for me to eat Salisbury steak?

So today is day 3 of tonsillectomy post op. I have a pretty bad cough the black stuff from my throat has started coming up. I can't take my medications. Should I go back in?
