After having my right thyroid removed because of a nodular, my breathing is terrible, Why? Is there any help out there? I had the surgery between 2 and 3 years ago, while in surgery the doc clipped my right nerve to my vocal cord and repaired it. A month after the surgery the doc put an injection of restlyn into my vocal cords to help improve my voice since I could hardly talk. When I woke up after this procedure I could not breath at all, I was terrified! The restlyn helped very little and I was told I had to keep having these injection over time. If I had known what the outcome would be after the thyroid surgery,I'd never had it done. The worst part of it all is the loss of breath. I was perfectly fine until this surgery. I have really bad spells that can last for several minutes where I'm gasping for breath. Its like my throat closes and no oxygen can get through and theses spell happen at anytime. I struggle for breath when I do the least bit of exercise and these spells has woke me up many times at night. I was in good health before this surgery but now my quality of life awful.
