Hello Ray,
Some studies indicate that people who drink a fair amount of alcoholing are underweight and other studies indicate that they are overweight. Seems contradictory but it isn't. Some people who drink to excess tend not to eat and therefore they lose weight. Other people eat more when they drink and hence they gain weight. I don't suggest you start drinking to lose weight. That's not the healthy way to go. If you eat lean meats, fresh veggies and fruit along with whole gains in small portions, you should be able to lose weight. If you looking to get a quick start, consider a low carb diet. You can eat all the meat you want but you can only have a few carbs to start with. Once you lose the weight you want you can reintroduce some carbs and see how many you can take in per day and not gain weight. From there you will know what you can eat to maintain your weight. I've heard all kinds of excuses for drinking, but this one takes the cake.
