OMG, please quit whining. You're a drama queen. These injections are NOT that bad at all. And you certainly won't miss work because of them.
Please take your ridiculous hysteria to a different forum.

I have one neuroma on each foot. The neroma on my right foot is around 5cm and after 8 alcohol shots is pain free. The one on my right foot is much bigger and have had improvement but I think I will need at least 4 to 5 more shots to be pain free.
I have had a few very painful medical procedures in the past and the shots are really not that bad for me. When the needle goes in I feel a little funny bone senasation for a few seconds but it is over fast and I'm pain free for the next 8 hours. I also had cortizone and found those to cause more pain and brusising than the alcohol at least for me. The costizone gave me zero improvment.
I would try the alcohol over surgery first.

I also have red blotch after 3rd injection. Did you get an answer as to why and if it's normal? Thanks.

@ Hermoine Hairpiece, i found your reply to be unsympathetic....I too had a very bad experience with 1 shot out of 7. That happened in 2007. Today my White Blood Count continues to be low & I have constant fair up that leads to excruciating pain. My only relief has been Motrin 800 mg. I had massages, orthodontic shoes, shots and therapy; to no avail. Finally, after years, of pain and online researches, I am taking the initiative and having the cryotherapy/surgery. please pray for me...I'm so tired of being limited to sneakers or uggs.

The Ultrasound confirmed that I have 2 neuromas in the same foot. For 9 years I thought it was just 'a neuroma' (one neuroma). So after 3 cortisone shots that didn't help 6 months ago, I have decided to try the alcohol shots. Just got my third one today, and I gotta say, I hope this is something that feels worse before it gets better, because since the first shot I have been hating life because the little pebble in the shoe sensation now feels like an acorn under the ball of my foot. I am very worried, but I'm going to keep getting them as long as my doctor thinks I should.
I will report back with the results.

Well,.. after 12 series of alcohol injections (one for each neuroma), for a total of 24 shots over the course of 12 weeks. And the passage of one months time since the last shot. I must report that the alcohol injections have made my neuroma(s) .. WORSE!!!
I would like to meet someone face to face who actually got this treatment and it worked as advertised. It would cool my temper down, because I feel like this treatment is a scam and I have been taken advantage of.

Have been reading all these posts about neuromas. I have a nasty one in my left but have had some success with prolotherapy treatments. I have poor foot structure and hypermobile feet, flat, with bunions. I have orthotics and never wear any shoes other than motion control sneakers and the occasional birkenstocks. Prolotherapy is helpful for strengthening and tightening ligaments.
Insurance doesn't cover the injections. I went to a city near me and had 2 sets if injections which are painful but not terrible. I had relief but it was not lasting. I have found another dr nearer to me who does prolotherapy and said I would need 4-6 treatments total. So I am having my third set of shots early next month. I use ice, and take curcumin for inflammation, and also use Traumeel topically and through pill form. I can walk but not long distances and at the end of the day my foot is really tired and hurts. But at least I can do my job and function. I love to hike but have had to give that up and that was really, really hard. I swim now and try to enjoy that.

Were you able to get another series of injections? I am in a similar situation. Let me know, please?

Hello,
I to have Morton Neuroma in both of feet. After three rounds of cortisone shots and one nerve shot in my ankle I was given alcohol shots. You get them in three rounds also but after my first round I felt a lot better. It got rid of the pain in one of my feet but I had my second round today and my last round in two weeks. I would say that the alcohol shots is the way to go. At least for now for me.

I had the shots about 3 years ago (alcohol injections) but now the pain is back. Can you ask your podiatrist if this is possible, for the nerve to grow back? Mine has retired and not all do them!!
