Every words of yours is applicable to my Morton nightmare. Qualified doctor was my surgeon and since then I had him poking me in 3 points of my foot an alcohol weekly for 4 months with no effect at all.

I'm just finding this web site. I had the same experience with the alcohol injections. I had more pain than I could imagine in the ball of both feet. Diagnosed with MN, doc did the cortisone first, did nothing, then started the alcohol injections ... pain was so bad, i prayed to die and considered killing myself. I went from doctor to doctor trying to find a way out. No doctor would acknowlege it was from the injections, but i believe it was and my life has completely changed, it's terrible. I've been to at least 25 doctors in my home state and traveled to Cleveland Clinic looking for answers, but none. Went from very healthy active person to hardly able to take care of myself. It's just unbelievable that ppl are allowed to live in this much pain and this treatment can be so damaging. I was thinking of having them removed, but so scared it will make the condition even worse. Please let us know how you are doing.

I have had two rounds of these alcohol injections. Two shots in each foot, waited 2 weeks and then two more shots. Developed a staph infection in one foot after the first injection. I am now a month out and I'm in severe pain. The tops of my feet are black and I cannot walk more than about 5 minutes without experiencing excruciating pain. I have more pain now that I had before the shots. Prior to the alcohol injections I had had 3 cortisone injections. Initially when I had the cortisone injections about two years ago, they worked for about 3 months. Now, this time, the cortisone injections didn't do anything, so I thought the alcohol injections would work. I ended up going to the ER after the second set of shots and was told to come by the office on Monday when he opened. When I called to schedule a time to come back, I was told I'll have to pay another $50 for an office visit. I refused to pay him $50 for what he had done to me. In addition, he was the one who told me to come back by. I had two rounds of antibiotics for the staph and have had no relief from the alcohol injections. I think a little lawsuit might be in order for this quack of a doctor.

It has been a nightmare for me as well. I have had two rounds of alcohol injections 2 in each foot two weeks apart. It has now been a month and I was supposed to go back in for my third round of injections last week but I developed a staph infection with my first round of injections so I could not go back. The pain in both feet is unbearable and is worse than the pain was before. The pain in my foot that did not have the staph infection in it is worse than the other foot. I was so looking forward to getting some relief because I can't even get groceries or across the parking lot or what even walk in the house without excruciating pain. I wouldn't advise anybody to get these shots.

I had two rounds of the alcohol injections and I too don't know if he didn't do it right or what, but I am continuing to have severe pain even on top of my feet. The neuromas hurt worse then they did before I had the injections. I can't get any sleep at night at all because of constant piercing pain in my feet and toes. I got a staph infection in one of my feet after the second round and stopped after that. The bruises where he made the injections are still on my feet after two months. I already take oxycodone for cervical pain and spinal stenosis and this doesn't touch it. I don't know what I am going to do. I have an appointment with another podiatrist next week to see what can be done. He told me that there were no side effects to this procedure and no complications. What a liar. I am so mad.

I don't understand everyone saying the injections are excruciating. I have had three injections so far and I don't find them painful at all I found the cortisone injections painful. I just had the third injection yesterday so I can't say for sure yet if they are working. I don't feel the stone feeling or bunched up sock feeling, but I still have some pain in the ball of the foot somewhat

You story sounds exactly like mine - I see this was over a year ago - have you found complete relief after the full series of alcohol injections?

I've suffered with a neuroma in each foot for more than a year and a half. The pain was unbearable at times. I tried cortisone shots, shoe inserts, medication, Ice and massage nothing worked. A holistic dr told me about injection therapy so I figured I had nothing to lose. The first injection wasn't too bad, second one made me cry, the third not so bad. I did have more pain and bruising after each shot then it gradually got better. My left foot is 75% better and my right is 50% better and I have moments of No pain. Bernie MeV and John Madden rubber sole shoes that are mesh are all I can wear right now. I'm hoping for a complete recovery. My doc says he does up to 5 shots. Fingers Crossed!!!

I had three alcohol injections several months ago and feel my foot has been destroyed. It doesn't even look like my other foot anymore and I have CONSTANT pain when standing for a length of time. I have tried every gym shoe on the market and I am in terrible pain. It is my right foot and I thank God I did not have my left foot injected. I have pain in both feet though and it has really messed up my life. It all started over night. I felt like I was walking on a stone constantly with my right foot and only slightly with my left foot. I had an MRI to check for mortons and they claimed they found nothing. I had read though that 30% of the time an MRI is useless. I had many cortisone injections which helped for a while and then they would only help for a week at a time as time went on. I opted for the alcohol injections and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I use to be active, exercizing etc. and now after I get home from work from standing 4-6 hrs a day I limp out of work and can't wait to get home to lay on the couch. I soak my feet, take ibuprofen which I do have to watch because of my kidney condition I have had since I was a child. Nothing helps permanently, it helps maybe 75% and as soon as I am back on my feet it starts all over. I know all those cortisone and alcohol injections had to of caused a lot more damage. Please really think it over before doing all those injections. Also too many cortisone injections eventually weaken and thin the bones in the foot.

I have had this alcohol injects with the same bad result. My foot is in more pain than before doing nothing. I've had surgery and the doctor said there was dead tissue from the alcohol shots killing all tissue in my foot.

As a few others have noted, the alcohol sclerosing injections made my neuroma worse. I now have a lump the size of a grape between my second and third toes which I can see when I pull my toes down. I had 6 shots. The pain was bad after each shot then subsided somewhat before the next shot. bit I never had any relief and wish I had stopped after the third shot. I have read that other podiatrists stop if no relief after the third shot. I now how swelling on the top of my foot and pain in my second and third toes which I did not have before. Cortisone works but only for approximately three months so I was hoping for more permanent relief. I am changing doctors and considering cryosurgery and would love to hear from others who have tried that treatment.
