So I am a 16 year old girl and I really need some help...
I am about 5'9'' and now around 145 pounds. I have been a muscular girl for all my life with parents who both live very athletic life styles. I myself have had "weight problems" for a little over a year now... but they were not so much problems as I knew I was getting too big (I was about 160lbs), started dieting and exercising and lost the weight and got back on track to where I wanted to be.
Throughout my weight loss journey, I have been fed by the idea "Muscle burns fat" (which i know is true) so I have been doing a lot of lifting and resistance training. I have been on a low carb diet with lots of protein, properly feeding muscle, and fat has been falling off. I am not yet to my initial goal and know I have the motivation and skills to get there.
My problem is, I feel as if I am getting too muscular. My arms and shoulders have always been more defined then other girls, and with the addition of weight lifting I think I could be getting almost too "manly". My boyfriend has always called me "perfect" and whatnot, but today made a comment on how my upper body should not get any bigger and his friends make fun of him. It really worries me.
I want to loose the rest of the fat (especially on my legs) so i do not look bigger than I should, but I do NOT want to get more buff then I am right now. I want to look attractive to not only my boyfriend, but the people around him. I want to be skinny...toned... not buff. But I feel it is already too late.
Has anyone else felt this way? Is there a way to loose muscle while still burning fat? What should I do? Please help!
