Hello. I'm 35 year old female and I have developed a serious kidney problem. It all started about three months ago with a numb pain located in my back. I though that it has something to do with my spine but I was wrong and coped with pain for these three month.
Just the other day, I was diagnosed with kidney stone and doctor told me that I will probably need surgery but not immediately but in month or two. In the meantime, I should take some pain killers and that’s all.
I believe he mentioned some Amitriptyline and I was wondering could someone tell me more about indications and possible side effect!
Hello. I'm very sorry about your problem but I believe that the operation will change things significantly!
Amitriptyline is one medication with wide specter of indications. It can be used as an antidepressant, drug for some digestive disorders and pain killer. As a pain killer he should be only used to treat chronic pain, that lasts for more then couple of months.
Most common side effects that could occur if you're using this medication are upset stomach, vomiting, drowsiness, weakness or tiredness, excitement or anxiety, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, nightmares, restlessness, headaches, dry mouth, constipation, difficulty urinating and sometimes blurred vision.
