Hello, I recently (last Wednesday) underwent a Tonsillectomy and am recovering from it (extremely painfully), I'm an 18 year old Male.
Now, my problem has arrisen because firstly, I normally have a very active sex drive, which has severely diminished since the op, in addition I am having problems maintaining an erection (believe I know why however) and have found it nearly impossible to achieve orgasm (only once after an unnecessary amount of effort).
I am on the following medication:
50mg Tramadol 1-2 4 times daily no more than 8
30/500 Co-Codamol (30mg Codeine 500mg Paracetomol) effervescent tablets 1-2 4 times daily no more than 8
50mg Diclofanec (Enteric coated) 3 times daily
Now, after some research I have found for myself that Diclofanec (the NSAID) works by inhibiting production of Prostaglandin which I believe would explain the difficulty in achieving and maintaining errection however I cannot explain the lack of Orgasm and also during the one successful orgasm I have achieved, there was a brief light sharp pain which I believe came from inside the Urethra.
Just in case it helps anyone help me, I also underwent a circumcision last year.
Please if anyone could provide any information, even if it's just that the Tramadol and Codamol are causing lack of sensation or that it's the stress from the pain.
Thanks.

Hi, try giving yourself a bit of a break and give your body time to recover! you are on some hefty meds and have not long had an anaesthetic, when you've recovered and off the meds then maybe try but recognise that sometimes your body will focus its energy where its really needed and rushing thing will just stress you further.
I'm unsure as to the long term effects of general anaesthetic, if you could tell me some things I'd be quite interested, as you mentioned it as a factor. During the circumcision I was also under GE but it's technically not needed, they just do it because what guy would want to be awake for that?
Just I'm concerned as the tip of my tongue is also still very numb after 6 days : )
Also yes, I guess I'll just leave it a while and you do make sense. I was just concerned something had changed. Do you know anything that could have caused the pain though? Or perhaps I just slightly damaged something while attempting?

general aneasthetic can take up to 10 days to properly exit your system, this is why they recommend drinking a lot in order to flush your system of it asap. I think it's more than likely that you were a little enthusiastic and this is what caused the pain, as I said give yourself time to recover and then have another go, I'm sure you'll be back to normal in no time!
As for the numb tongue, it may be worth mentioning this to your doctor as I am unaware of a general cause for this.
Hope you feel better soon

Oh ok, well I guess if it takes that long, the fact that drinking is extremely painful so I haven't been managing alot (or enough for that matter) probably exacberated the issue.
I'm thinking the tongue issue may be caused by a powerful local anaesthetic and due to the location (this is the very tip) there may be a limited blood supply so it could be taking a while, but I'm seeing the specialist for a follow-up on the 20th so if it's not gone by then, it's definitely something I'll be mentioning.
Thanks for the advice, while it's no doubt not happy news for the GF, I shall have to enjoy the current peace in that area while I deal with this horrible sore throat.
