I’m sorry to read about the severe pain your fiancé is experiencing. Has anyone considered nerve studies? I was diagnosed with crps which is complex regional pain syndrome. I developed it in my left arm after having surgery on my ulnar nerve. I had severe pain post op that never improved. I kept being told to give it time to heal, it could take many months. It’s been three years now. The pain you’re describing sounds very similar to mine. It does not show up on xrays or mri’s. I’d see a neurologist or pain management doctor for another opinion. Good luck to you and I hope she feels better soon ..
Ask for an 'Outside 2nd Opinion'. Find a MD in L.A (like Cedar's Sinai). Get all of your records (inc 'OP Report' from her surgery because a lot of Surgeon's want to know what they are 'signing up for' to assess if they can help her). Get all Xrays, MRI's and CT reports also....esp most recent. You'll need 'CD's' of CT's and MRI's for the appointment. Get 'film's' of all pertinent Xray's. Get any NCG/EMG's (the nerve conduction studies.....I DESPISE THOSE)...I've had 3 fusions and laminectomies since 2/2007). Call your insurance CO to see how to get an Outside 2nd Opinion and if she is limited to a set list of MD's. DO YOUR RESEARCH before picking a NeuroSurgeon (don't let a regular Ortho MD see her)...only a Neurosurgeon. I wish you the best.... and an insurance Co can't DENY an outside 2nd opinion.
