At the age of 27 or 28 I started losing my erection during sex or masturbation. Within 6 months, it progressed to the point that the bottom part my penis would not get hard at all (think of this from a vertical standpoint, not horizontal), but the top portion of the penis was hard like normal. I saw a doctor, and he gave me some Viagra to try. The Viagra did not work. It made the part that was working stay hard for long periods (to the point it actually hurt), but the bottom portion had no change at all. It's impossible to have sexual relations now, as the erection will be completely lost with any pressure on the part of the penis that is not erect.
I have had back issues, surgeries, but the problem started well before any of my back issues, so I'm not sure if they are related. The problem started when I was under a LOT of pressure at work, but when the job/pressure changed, the erection did not come back.
The soft portion is obviously some type of blood flow issue, but not sure why. I have full feeling in the penis, and I can ejaculate properly if I don't apply pressure on the bottom portion (this is NOT easy to do). It's gotten to the point that I don't masturbate, much less seek out a sexual companion.
Does anyone have an idea of what's going on, or if it's even possible to fix it?

No one has advice?
Another thing I should add is that the bottom portion of my penis is no longer firm in general. It feels soft now, almost like the forskin it has no resistance at all. I have a feeling it's related to blood flow, because my heart will sometimes skip a bit, like a hiccup, which will cause me to lose an erection on the side parts that I can get erect.
I've resigned myself to a life alone, as I don't see any way I can engage in a normal relationship.

Did you ever end up figuring out what was occurring? I have the exact same issue, even down to the stress and back issues. I want to figure this out so none of my brothers have to suffer through this hellish condition ever again. Please reach out, I would be happy to compare notes.

Dude have you had your heart checked?
Heart skipping a beat is not normal.. you may have atrial fibrillation or a different heart condition.
The decreased erection may just be a side effect… go see your doctor or a cardiologist.
