My grandmother is 67 years old and unfortunately, she broke her femoral bone and now is in the rehab process. Sadly, the doctors told us that the rehab will take a long time because of her age. And he also told us that she will have to take extra care when the plaster is removed. Are femur fractures more common in people older than 60?

Well, there are certain things that happen to older people. For example, muscle fibers begin to deteriorate after the age of 55. And also, bone density starts to decrease in about that time and that is why the bones might break more easily. So, I guess that she will have to be more cautious now, injuries that could have been considered minor in the past, might end up with broken bones now.
