I've been smoking almost every day since I was 15. A lot. Im 29 now..You need to face the fact that you can't use weed as an excuse for your ignorance. Pointing blame at a harmless object is selfish and lazy.

Juice of papaya leaves or pawpaw leaves is very helpful in increasing platelet count.U gotta drink around a glass of this juice every morning before ur breakfast. Do this for atleast a week regularly and u will surely see the difference. Besides that let me warn u that the juice is sh*t bitter so just to kill the bitterness of it add salt to it and squeeze like an entire lemon in that juice. I know this technique because i myself was fighting with low platelet count and this technique is widely used in India.

You know there are ways of replying without being so condescending! First of all Professionals don't "laugh somebody out of a building" That's why they are called professionals, maybe an ignoramus soundinding like you might! Then how can you state that somebody "sounds" religious, then lumping them into a category of being "misinformed" this is a Mother that has lost her child and will hurt forever! I don't know how your Mother treated you but most of us are close to our Parents or Children! Closing by calling somebody a fool...wow! I know your type, no class, no compassion and thinks your a know-it-all because you had a situation closely related! I'm not wasting anymore time thinking about you!

No way did your son die of sepsis because of an overuse of marijuana. Sepsis is an infection usually as a result of surgery. I am sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry to hear about your son, but I am quite confident that you son did not get sepsis from smoking pot. Sepsis usually occurs after surgery.

If you have ITP, you shouldn't be taking fish oil capsules and garlic is also on the list of don'ts if you have ITP.

My wife suffers from low platelets for several years due to ITP. She even had her spleen removed. One combination that helped her increase her count was Dynosol, with folic acid, and vitamin c. This helped bring her platelets up after a year and her platelets stabilized. After another year, we discontinued the dynosol but kept up with the vitamin c, and folic acid. This may work for you so you may want to look into it. If your going to smoke, look into the Strain 2-AG. There has been some research on this strain which talks about improving platelets counts

It sounds like mixed reviews on here. My experience is from my father having ITP. He was a heavy smoker (pot). Back in the 80's he was diagnosed with ITP. He went thru many of the procedures that everyone on here has listed. It obviously came up that he was a pot smoker. The doctor advised him to stop. Since this has been a very long time ago, I won't have all the details but I remember telling him that chemicals from smoking pot were coating his platelets which did something.... and then causing a lower platelet count. It was difficult for him to quit but when he did stop, his platelet count would go up. When he started smoking again, his platelet count dropped. I remember this part clearly because it was always a source of strife between my parents. So... as someone already stated on here... I wouldn't just dismiss the possibility of pot smoking to a lowered platelet count. Maybe some folks are able to continue there use and it doesn't have an impact on their platelet count . But, it is also something to consider. I do believe his ITP ultimately led to his passing away. Because he didn't have a spleen and he had gotten an infection (meningitis)... which then led to sepsis.... he passed away. It also didn't help , that when he went to a walk in clinic when he was starting to get sick (with the meningitis) and didn't share that he had ITP or a splenectomy. They treated him as someone who had a flu virus and sent him home. It didn't take long after that when it quickly became worse and within days he had passed away.

Using Papaya leaves for 3 months brought my platelet count down to 12,000. Was sent to the Hospital where I received 2 platelet transfusions over 5 days.

Wow! These posts are very encouraging. I asked my hemotologist if it was wise to try pot to try and raise my platelets. His answer was, "Well, it won't hurt them", then he advised that there was not enough studies to prove the pot actually works, however; he did not discourage me from trying it. I'm going to try some other things before I attempt the THC route, and if I do try it, I will use a tiny amount of edible marijuana.
