Doctor prescribed Aripiprazole to my sister. Tell me something more about this drug. Does aripiprazole treat schizophrenia? I notice that she is much better. This drug helps her. Tell me more about side effects.
Hi! I don’t take this medication, but I read about that. Aripiprazole is an anti-psychotic drug for treating psychoses. Aripiprazole is approved as a treatment for schizophrenia. Aripiprazole is used to treat severe mental disorders (psychoses) like schizophrenia, which are characterized by distorted thoughts, perceptions, and emotions, Some of the most common side effects associated with aripiprazole are anxiety, blurred vision, constipation, cough, headache, insomnia, light-headedness, nausea, rash, restlessness, runny nose, sleepiness, tremors, vomiting, weakness, and weight gain. Any patient developing symptoms that suggest diabetes during treatment should be tested for diabetes.
I take Aripiprazole for my Schizophrenia.
I have found it to be far superior than any of the other anti-psychotics I have tried because I seem to be very sensitive to the sedation effects.
Aripiprazole also treats the "negative" symptoms of schizophrenia (the lack of thought/speech/movement).
I was particularly suffering from the negative symptoms, as I haven't had problems with psychosis for a few years, thankfully. Aripiprazole has changed that and it was like my brain "sped up" overnight back to how it worked when I was in my early twenties!
I did suffer a bit with flu-like symptoms when I first took it but these are calming down now (still early days).
I hope it works for your sister.
