A little while back my father was messing around with vents in the basement. He tore them down because we needed something that fell in the vent. Some stuff fell from the ceiling. Could it have been asbestos. My house is pretty old. If so is it dangerous.

I don't see how any of us could know if it was asbestos but I doubt that you need to worry about a little something that fell from the ceiling. The media hype that surrounds most of that stuff is just that --- hype. The ads you see about that are aimed at people who spent years working with the stuff and are mostly for the purpose of lining the pockets of lawyers at the expense of some people who think they may be affected.
