I too Had a Tvh on 12/16/10 due to my entire uterus being comprised of fibroids that cused me to bleed for 6 months straight like a flowing faucet! My decision for surgery was not a light one at 41 yrs old with no children. After surgery I had no back issues. I did hsve the bladder sling installed as well BTW. On 2/25/10 I was making my bed, lifting a heavy down blanket and heard a pop in my back. After that I had sciatca down both legs for s few months. I received sterid shots which helped. My pain then turned into a IT band issue fown left leg. Accupunture helped that but I still had the ole L4 & L5 pain that was in my lower back that everyone else here complains about. I did Pilates, Yoga, physical therapy, chiropractic & REIKI but have been in back pain hip pain and lower left leg pain ever since August 2011. My sex drive has become almost non exsistant and really only get arroused now with a partner. I have lost my job due to this pain as I can't sit or stand or walk for long periods of time. So now I am on disability at 43 yrs old. Tomorrow I am having a gastric bypass in hopes that losing 100lbs. Will help my issue. No one told me about the posistion of being upside down during surgery. But my ex-rays show my spine curving to right n my vertebre sitting on top of ea other with disc degeneration. I hope this surgery helps me get some mobility back. Laying in my bed all day is no fun! My aunt had a TVH as well and 15yrs later she has had no back issues. I wish everyone here the best of luck in finding a solution for yourself.

2003 I had a toal hysterectomy, I am now 27 years old! when I was sixteen I found out I had two wombs! uterus didelphys! My life became a fight! I started my periods when I was 15, that's when my fight for life began! the pain got so bad I would black out! when all my investigations into my pain began that's when they found there discovery! I also had severe endromitiocies that was the culprit of my horrific pain! I suffered for two years in absolute agony! due to having uterus didelphys! back then it was uncommon! an due to that I was a guienpig! everybody was interested in me for all the wrong reasons, my horrific pain due to the sever endromitiocies wasn't one of them! I eventually ended up in intensive care fighting for mylife, my wombs became rotton due to there ignorance and my age! 2003 saved me when I asked for a second oppion, I had to beg them for a hysterectomy, they already told me I was unable to have children, so why allow me to suffer anymore! eventually they agreed, the day of operation they taken me down to the operation room, and my sergon looked at me and said you can change your mind if you would like to Amy! I said no no I don't want to suffer anymore! when I woke up in recovery the sergon appeared over me and told me I made the right decision! Thank god for that hay!! I do suffer with lower back pain and pAins in my legs! it's never settled for me, the dotirs don't know what it is, I go to pain management and have injectstions now! there helping me 9 years on! thank you for taking your time to read! I've actually cut a very long story short! I also believe my hysterectomy is to blame for my back pains

I have a similar experience. I am 42 and had an abdominal Hysterectomy in 2010. I have had chronic back lower right back pain since. Have had x-ray and MRI and the orthopedic doctor found nothing wrong. I have seen a physiotherapist but the exercises only made the pain worse. I live on painkillers from the moment I wake up with excruciating pain to the moment I go to sleep if I get any sleep at all. This is just but one issue (side effects) I have to deal with on a daily basis after the Hestrectomy. I feel that I have reached the end of my tether and and can't imagine living with this pain for the rest of my life. I get a little consolation here realizing that I am not the only one suffering like this. I have been reading through the posts and listing any tips that seem to help the subscribers here. It may just be the thing that helps me relieve this constant pain. I can only wish you ladies all the luck in the world in finding relief from your back pain.

I have been having pain following hysterectomy in my lower back and right hip. My hys was 5 years ago. I walk bent over like I am pushing a shopping cart. I feel like an old woman. I had some physical therapy which was exercise for my lower body. It included modified sit ups, plank exercise on a stability ball, wall push ups, swinging leg with resistance band in 4 directions, and sit down, stand up type exercises. It helped some. Now I am trying walking in the swimming pool. I am walking 2 hrs each day for the last 5 days. I hope I can keep it up and improve my back and hip pain. The MDs don't tell you the facts about life after the hysterectomy.

I'm 6 years post-hysterectomy and in the last 2 or 3 years developed back and hip pain. Standing or sitting for extended periods causes or worsens the pain. I never had back pain before this awful surgery. The uterine ligaments that are severed to remove the uterus are like "scaffolding" for the pelvis. This explains why the rib cage falls and sits on the hip bones hence the pain and shortened, thick midsection. Pain that begins right after surgery is likely caused by the convoluted position during surgery. These effects on the back plus the many other consequences of hysterectomy aren't explained to women before they sign the consent form. And too many women fail to speak out to other women and authorities (insurance companies, medical boards, etc.) so the harm continues. ""The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

To everyone out there with back pain, I'm sorry to say that it may not get better. For years I have blamed the hard work I do for my back pain but my pain also started when I had a vaginal hysterectomy. I was 27 and it has been almost 30 years. The doctor was a jerk and I knew when I woke up in pain that they had done something to me during that surgery. After I read this tonight, I realize what it was and someone should be sued. Doctors are cruel and unfeeling. It's sad that we suffer so much at their hands.

I also had robotic hysterectomy with bowel complications. 3 weeks later I too am experiencing excruciating back pain, hips, legs and abdomen. Your Dr says it will go away in 3 mos? Why do you need to see an Ortho? I see my GYN Tuesday, my problem has been on & off but has been persistent for several days now. I am having difficulties getting up from sitting position I can't believe how many women have this. Do u have disk or nerve damage?

. Hi.I read your story. I had a Vaginal pro-laps and a Hysterectomy a year and a half ago. I have pelvic, Back pain like you wouldn't be-leave, been to 6 different Doctors and none of them knows whats wrong. Went to another one to day and ask her if it could be my (Cuff ) vaginal vault and she didn't know but by yhe exam thats where my pain is. So I was on the internet awhile ago and found a page that talked about the back pain and pelvic pain. And it answered my question about it. So I'm to see a Sergent and going to ask him about going in and fixing it. These Doctors around here act Dom. and I have been bed ridden for aver a month now. and the pain, I can't take anymore and they won't give pain meds either. So I have to lay down to keep the pain down, and be waited on buy my family. And Can't even have intercourse for the pain.
