I know what your saying . I had a vaginal pro laps and hysterectomy a year and 6 months ago. same problem, but I also have vaginal pain and my pelvis really hurt when I try to bend over. And I also have my right leg bothering me over all of this. My Doctor moved away with out contacting us. So I've been to 6 different doctors to try to find out what happen to me . I now have been bed ridden and have to use a walker . Can not cook or even do house work my Husband and Son has to weight on me because of the pain, in the pelvis, back and now leg. Went to new Doctor today and she said it sounds like my (cuff) means vaginal vault. So I am now set up to see a surgent over it and can not have intercourse either. I hope this may help some one and I hope it help me. I'm only 49 and was very active,

I read in my report that they sewed something to my lower spine. If that the case then that's what making our Backs hurt and possibly sewed into a nerve. That's what my doctor to me to.and in my records.

I had daVinci robotic supracervical hysterectomy in Nov 2012 and the next day after I was released from the hospital, I noticed that I was completely numb in the rear side of my left hip. When I laid down on my side (using a body pillow on my side was the only comfortable position for sleeping at this point in my recovery), I would get a pins and needles feeling in that area. This told me that there had been some kind of nerve damage but that it was beginning to heal, so I decided to wait and see before calling my doctor. After I stopped the heavy drugs about a week post-op, I started sleeping on my back again. I woke in the middle of the night with excruciating pain across my low back. It was so bad that it took my breath away and all my will to turn over onto my side and grab my body pillow so I didn't end up on my back again. I figured this was just residual effects of my surgery and thought it would eventually heal like my hip nerve damage.
Fast forward to my 4 weeks' post-op appointment and my surgeon told me that most likely the numbness in my hip was caused by the positioning of my body during the surgery. They have you upside down at a 45 degree angle and you are strapped in very tightly. Nerve compression occurred on my left hip and she said that the damage should heal itself within 3 months. I figured the same went for my low back pain, so I didn't mention it. Fast forward again to my 7 weeks' post-op appointment at which I informed my surgeon about the continuing back pain issue when lying down. She recommended physical therapy - apparently that is an insurance pre-requirement now for an MRI to be ordered.
I just had my first PT evaluation session last night and found out that the removal of the uterus and the organs shifting to fill the void can definitely impact the muscles of the pelvic floor and cause the exact pain I was experiencing. I was shown some simple low-impact abdominal and low back strengthening exercises that will help rebuild the support I need in that area. Just the acting of tightening my abdominal muscles when getting up from a prone position helped immensely.
I wanted to share this with folks having similar issues since it was not immediately obvious to me what the issue actually was. The numbness in my hip has indeed begun to dissipate, and I am hopeful that I will be back to normal within 1-2 months.

I HAVE THE SAME LOWER LEFT AND HIP PAIN. I AM FIVE MONTHS POST OPP ON THE TENTH OF THIS MONTH. THIS PAIN IS SO DISABLING. I HAVE READ ALOT OF THESE POSTS ON SEVERAL WEBSITES AND WHAT I AM GETTING FROM ALL OF THIS IS. WE ARE PRETTY MUCH SCREWED. THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A DIAGNOSES OR A CURE. OTHER THAN OUR BODIES BEING CONTORTED FOR HOURS DURING SURGERY.I GUESS IT CAUSES PERMANENT DAMAGE. AND THIS MAKES ME VERY SAD. I READY DISABLED BEFORE THE SURGERY. I HAD A STROKE AT AGE THIRTY. I LEFT PERMANENTLY DISABLED. ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH. I AM 45 NOW AND THE THOUGHT OF HAVING TO DEAL WITH THIS CONSTANT BACK PAIN FOREVER MAKES ME WANNA THROW MYSELF IN FRONT OF A BUS. SO FRUSTRATED. HELP. :-(

Hi lady, I am also doing some net research on the symptoms after my hysterectomy in 2010. Its as most of the ladies say, it appears as if most doctors don't know how to solve the after effects of this op. I was starting to wonder if these ops aren't just a money making thing. Cause in my area, all of a sudden many women who decide to have a hysterectomy have already decided to stop having kids a few months prior. So, my advise: don't encourage any of your ladies out there to have the hysterectomy unless it's cancerous. I am in pain at least 2-3 days a week. I have no sensation when being intimate with my husband. On top of that I have temporary paralysis on the left side of my body. I also have constipation problems as the ovaries have probably attached themselves to my colon. I was recently told that I have to live with this pain and discomfort until my "change of life-55yrs", now 42, so for the next 13yrs I have to live up with this. So, for the next 13yrs I must make sure I have a medical aid in place, as this is now my destiny. And, I have to be at work every day, in pain many times, cause I must put food on the table. I'm South African with an average income. I really hope this letter will be read by the right person, someone who wants to help us ladies in distress. Good luck to all the ladies who are in my shoes and please make the right decision.

I am so glad I found this site. I had an abdominal hysterectomey 4 weeks ago and right from the start my lower back was killing me. Dr. keeps telling me I am still healing and need more time. But what I am concerned over is my back? I have lots of doubt right now that it is going to get better ... or is it really too early to tell?

Hi
I had my total hysterctomy via keyhole on the 20/02/13 all went well with the op and I was amazed at how little pain i experienced from abdominal area. I have however had severe lower back pain and leg pain ever since, I have co codamol, diclofenac and diazipam from my gp but they do not help at all, I would do anything if I thought it would give me some relief from this constant pain. Has anyone any suggestions.
Many thanks, Lyn.

Hello everyone,
I had a laproscopic hysto done on Jan 11, 2013. I also had exporitory surgery in my c-section scar. I have had nothing but trouble since. I started physical therapy for pelvic pain. They had me doing kegal sets. holding one for 2minutes at a time. My back still hurts so bad. I was told that because I was in such a bind prior to surgery that my muscles are trying to lock back up. My c-section scar is still giving me problems too. The scar tissue is so painful. I pray that one day I feel better. I have hurt since Oct 2008. I wish all of you the best of luck. Physical therapy does help.
