I too recently had this same procedure and my doctor said my lower back pain was from the positioning during surgery. So you are absolutely correct.

OMG, I'm flabergasted, had an abdominal hysterectomy on 1/15/15 and I'm now experiencing extreme lower back pain. I cannot get out of bed before noon and that's when the pain becomes somewhat tolerable. I drive a bus for a living and the docters are forcing me to return to regular duty. I'm very frustrated because I want to know what's happening with my back before I return. I cannot drive or sit for long period of time. I need help.

How can anyone have their legs over their head during an operation? Think about it. Your legs would have to be pinned down, how would they be able to sort out the mask over your face. Surely if this ever happened, your back muscles would be torn! I think someone is pulling your leg.

I had a robotic hysterectomy in February 2014 for a large fibroid tumor and potential uterine cancer but was lucky, no cancer. About 1 week after the surgery, I started having severe lower back pain and horrible burning in my lower back. I had never had this pain prior to my surgery. I have been dealing with this for over a year and started going to pain management doctors. I also have fibromyalgia so I am constantly on Tramadol which did nothing for the pain. Both of the pain management doctors guessed that I had a robotic hysterectomy after hearing my symptoms. According to them, they do position the patient almost upside down on the operating table in order to get the robotic arms into the right positions. I also had a double hernia surgery at the same time so I was on the operating table for a long time. Since December 23, my pain management doctor has done 5 Radiofrequency thermocoagulations (RFTCs). This procedure ablates or burns the nerves on each side of L2-L3-L4-L5. I have gotten some relief but had to take 6 weeks short term disability because I was missing so much work due to my misery. I am an executive assistant so I am either sitting at my desk for hours at a time or driving in my car for 1 hour-1 1/2 hour each way. The doctor says that is the worst thing I can do is sit and drive for long periods of time. The doctor has also prescribed a compounded cream that helps and Lidoderm patches which I will start trying tomorrow. Hydrocodone doesn't even phase the pain but I only try to take them when my pain is severe. I feel for each and every one of you because this has been the worst year of my life. I see Dr. Alex Saidov, a doctor in the Texas Pain Relief Group in Arlington TX and he is one of the most caring doctors I have ever seen. When United Healthcare wouldn't cover the last RFTC, my doctor went to the CEO of TPRG and convinced them to do my RFTC free of charge.

I had a full hysterectomy in the early "90s". After that I lost several teeth plus ended up with back problems that keeps getting worse over the years. I have suffered so much. Therapy didn't help - did it several times. They keep wanting to put me in pain management for injections. All the doctors refused to give me hormone replacement therapy - estrogen. Then when I was at a urologist for my husband the doctor had on his wall a poster that said prolapse usterus, hysteromy and estrogen deficiency may cause bladder leakage. I have that, too. I feel the medical field has done great harm to women over the years and it's cruel. We all should warn other women young and old if at all possible don't have a hysteromy unless it's a matter of life and death.

My name is Cathy. I just had a partial hysterectomy( June 22, 2015)with just the uterus taking out. I also had a couple of large fibroids as well. I also have been experiencing severe back and abdominal pain. I'm not sure if I may have a Uti but the pain is worst at night. I try taking Tylenol but it doesn't give me relief. So I try not to think about it and I just pray and ask God for a little relief. I have a appointment with my surgeon on Friday maybe he can shed some light on this matter. I know it takes time to heal. As some of you have stated you must not overdo it. Your body has been through a great shock and it has to figure out how to get back on the right track. I pray that each and every one of you find some comfort and relief in the upcoming days.
Best wishes,
Cathy W.
