This isnt normal to everyoneme but it also happens to me. Its because of smoking or in your case chewing. Its not something you should be too concerned about since your quitting

I had the same problem - thick black mascara-looking mucus up my nose, all around inside the nostrils! I just found out it’s the cheap candle I’ve been lighting in my room!! The flame and the smoke coming off it looked a bit black and I had been in the room all day with it on. That’s probably the reason why some non-smokers are having it!
