I am a 72 year old male in reasonably good physical condition. While never a heavy drinker, Iwhen I was younger, I could hold ALOT of alcohol. Recently ( the past few months) I would get excruciating pain in my hips, buttocks and legs after a few social drinks. I am talking about 1-2 mixed drinks or 2 beers. The pains wake me up 8n the middle of the night and continue to a lesser degree during the next day or two.
Last night, I had 1 glass of wine and have been in pain since about 2AM. It is so bad, that I many times will have a fruit drink when we’re out with friends. Nothing like being the “Tea totaller” when you’re at a party!

Hi i seem to be having pains this past year every time i drink alcohol which is probably once a week (2 glasses of wine). I would get pain in my fingers, legs and sleepless nights. 2 days ago i had a gin and tonic after a month of not drinking and now i can hear crackling in my right knee along with excruciating pain from knee to hip. I have been limping these past two days. I hsve tried to get a doctors appt but unfortunately she is not due back from holiday until Monday and nothing else is available. Any help? I did take an iburpofen to which reduced the pain slightly but its back again

What were you symptoms when dx with Hodgkins for the last year I can Literally take 3 sips of any alcoholic beverage and immediately my left arm will ache so bad to the point it feels like it's my bone.
I'm so scared after searching that it could be early signs of this disease.

I too experience achey bones for a few minutes (arms, legs, collar bone and in my back) after my first consumption of any alcohol. This has also happened throughout my life (51 yrs now). I have yet to meet anyone with this same experience.

Hello. I have this very same issue, leg pain all my life, aches that are torture, and weather sensitive. Alcohol worsens it. I’m curious to hear about yours in more detail.***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of private information such as name, phone number or email address is not allowed in order to protect your privacy*** Please read our Terms of Use

If I just have a few sips of any alcohol, I actually have to get it out of my body. The pain is so severe. I’m a once every five years try to enjoy a cocktail kind of person and this has gone on since 1990. I’ve had to walk away from dinners it’s horrible.

I suffer with arthritis but if I drink wine, i get dreadful aching legs, really heavy legs. Had that for years hence only drink wine occasionally. It doesn’t happen if I drink gin I’m pleased to say although I only have the occasional drink.

I have the same exact issue. A single drop hurts my bones, especially my arms, like no other. Kind of like restless leg syndrome in my arms. Only happens with alcohol. I believe it’s an allergic reaction to the alcohol. Maybe if I compare all the ingredients in all diff types of alcohol, I could find the common denominator and that could be our answer. What ever “that” is, is what we’re “allergic” to, essentially.

I quit drinking beer 2 months ago. Now my knees & knuckles REALLY ache. Getting up from bed can be brutal. I must avoid alcohol. What can I replace my beer with, if anything?
